"It’s important that all mirrors should be used effectively throughout your journey.

You should use your mirrors frequently so that you always know what is behind and to each side of you" 👍

Rule 161, like the rest of the Highway Code, is essential reading for all road users. Read all the rules online, for free, here: http://ow.ly/mnfP50LKTGW

DVSA is taking action against the selling of fake Highway Codes online 📚

They include incorrect information, which could lead to you failing a theory test, practical test or even committing an offence on the road ❌

It is important to buy through a reputable, trusted publisher or bookshop. You can get an official copy of The Highway Code here: http://ow.ly/yLjt50LrIml

The Highway Code: Driving in Adverse Weather Conditions 🌧️

You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet) 💡

You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves (see Rule 236) ✔️

Even if your vehicle’s not due for its MOT yet, you need to make sure it’s safe to drive. Regularly check your vehicle’s:

🚕 brakes work smoothly and that the vehicle doesn’t pull to one side

💡 headlights and other lights work – give them a tap to check they’re not loose or damaged and check the colours are correct and match

🚗 tyres are correctly inflated, have no cuts or bulges, and that they all have at least 1.6mm of tread

💧 windscreen wipers and washers work

You should also check your view of the road isn’t clouded by obstructions, such as stickers, toys or air fresheners.
