Getting the tachometer to work is the easy part. The hard part is trying to think how other people might want to integrate it into their systems, so I've made this to have:
✅ Square wave for speed and RPM
✅ Canbus
✅ GPS (up to 10hz)

In the background, I've revised nearly every single PCB with some wild new features, so I'll be onto testing them shortly:

A nerdy project for the aftermarket ECU people: a USB to WiFi Bridge.

It will allow me to wirelessly tune/log/monitor Ignitron without needing to have the cable out every time.

It has an optional USB C connector broken out to allow me to add a separate port on the dash (they're smaller).

> Auto-detection of USB C and will disable the bridge to redirect to the C port.
> Automotive grade input circuitry, protection and fused.
> Status LED for monitoring.
> Can be powered by the USB C connector or 12v.
> User interface to view, monitor and possibly log.
> Will be fully opensource.

PCB is currently 40x40mm.

Plan is to finish off the firmware, build a UI and begin reverse engineering the protocol to see what gauges / data I can get.

This is a speed run of some of the modifications I've done to the Golf. An entirely DIY effort and there's been a lot of learning along the way.

Yes, it's tatty and there's a lot to improve on, but that's why it's a hobby!

Unlocking new features with AirLift V2:
Full control over all presets (and define your own separate to the controller) ✅

Super stoked about how this turned out! PWM fan controller for all the dead slow speed resistor people out there or people wanting their ECU to be able to control them.

Slow ramp up (5s) to minimise inrush and risk of fuses blowing. Fully adjustable slow speed, external inputs for slow and high speed, just needs a ground to activate - this could be a switch in the dash or an ECU.

Super early morning starts with a sleepy newborn has meant I've had some time to fix two things to make everyone's life a bit easier: quick, custom calibrations and PID control.

Now calibrating custom housings takes sub two-minutes and gains perfect accuracy every single time and you don't need to understand how to code to use it. Just add a handful of speed points and go!

And PID control means the speedometer maintains accuracy throughout, so sticky housings or old binding speedometers means it won't lose accuracy.

Zain's INSANE Audi S3 with a G30-900 controlling rolling antilag using with the OEM steering wheel buttons on Ignitron with an opensource steering wheel controller.

This controller let's you merge old and new steering wheels. Or broadcast buttons over CAN. Or there's a MOSFET for driving m**h pumps. Or merge it with OpenHaldex if you wish, the options are endless: you just need to decide what you want the buttons to do.

Supports MQB and PQ steering wheels and the UI let's you set it up and learn buttons on the fly.
