How did we develop a 1,049g wheelset that is wide (25mm INT) and has 20 spokes?

We started with one question: What would we actually want to ride?

The answer? An ultra-lightweight, ultra-responsive wheelset with excellent torsional resistance when the power is on, paired with a wide internal rim profile for superior rolling resistance and traction when the road starts going downwards. To make it a reality...

We spent 15 months developing rim layups.
We paid twice the cost for T1100 carbon fibre.
We developed a minimalistic hub design that doesn’t compromise on strength.
We used unique ultra light, aero carbon spokes with Titanium ni**le heads.
We threw in Ceramic bearings.

The result? Our Élan Ultra 4.

''Lighter is always better'', is a phrase we would never say.

We see this phrase a lot online, and it's a trade-off we would never make as stripping weight out increases the rate of Fatigue, which goes unhidden.
