After what seems like an eternity, finally finished the install of the fuse and relay modules into the MK RX-5. This was my second attempt and very pleased with the result.

The 3D printed module support certainly made it more straightforward to crimp the connectors and insert them into the modules. Given the amount of modifications I've done to the MX-5 loom, it was very pleasing to connect the battery and things all came to life as they should!

The key was spending several hours drawing the schematics for the fuse and relay holders, and planning where to splice in additional wires to avoid multiple cables in one crimp.

Here's a few pics 🙂

Pleased with the bulkhead and scuttle fit 🙂 !

Struggled to get the fuse box wiring tidy and complete to my satisfaction, so out it came and take two commenced. And it was time to say good bye to connector X-16 'big blue' too!

Been a while since I updated my build progress, so here's the latest:

The Build – February & March 2026 / Build, Wiring / By Trevor What have I been up to? Wrestling with wiring mostly! There is so much of it to rationalise and not helped in some cases by the Mk2.5 MX-5 loom not being quite the same as the diagrams would have you believe! Additional wires in connecto...

Very pleased with how the silver rear stripe went on today. It's much more shiny than I'd thought it would be. Gonna look very cool when applied to the rest of the MK.

A belated update on my build now live here (spoiler alert - my first ever 3D printed part now prototyped and on the car....!)

The Build – January 2026 / Build / By Trevor January 19th, 2026 First time since late 2025 that I’ve had time to work on the MK. Still the bathroom looks nice now!Since the last post I decided to pause the fuse box installation as there are many wires common to the front and rear lighting system...

Been following the ToolsnTrack YT channel for a while now and Tommy's latest 'Dannykart' project is an amazing kitcar adaptation to enable his pal Danny to get back on the road after a life-changing motorcycle accident.

Here's a link to the channel:

Very overdue update on my build can be found here:

The Build – November 2025 / Build, Wiring / By Trevor 1st to 24th November 2024. A really delayed update to the build follows. Delays were mainly due to other calls on my time but also due to a lack of motivation on my part to get the wiring done, knowing that it would be time consuming and challe...

Just highlighting this part of my recent blog (trevorturner.uk):

I have found a wiring anomaly in the main fuse box for the main EGI relay – took a while to fathom this out.

In all of the documentation that I have in regards the main engine / injection relay, this relay is activated by the ECU (pin 3H – blue/orange wire) grounding the coil and a permanent +12v coming from the 30A Fuel Injection fuse.

However my Mk2.5 engine fusebox EGI relay does not have the blue/orange wire and the relay is instead activated by a permanent ground connection on one side of the coil (black wire) and the +12v coming from the 15A engine fuse (black/white wire) which is ignition key activated.

A more reliable approach in my view!
