The Austin Healey 100-4 was the car that started it all.

First revealed in 1952, the 100-4 combined sleek styling with genuine performance, helping establish Austin Healey as one of the defining names in British sports cars. Designed by Donald Healey and built in partnership with Austin, it delivered exactly what post-war enthusiasts wanted: speed, simplicity, and open-top driving at its best.

Power came from a 2.6 litre four-cylinder engine, giving the car its “100” name thanks to its ability to reach 100mph, an impressive figure for the time. Lightweight, low-slung, and unmistakably purposeful, the 100-4 quickly earned a reputation both on the road and in motorsport.

What made the car special was its balance. It had the raw character of a true sports car, but enough refinement to make long-distance touring just as enjoyable.

Today, the Austin Healey 100-4 remains one of the most recognisable British classics ever built. Elegant, mechanical, and full of personality.

There is always a point where the old hood stops being “good enough for another summer”.

The rear window has gone cloudy. The stitching’s starting to separate near the folds. Maybe it leaks slightly now, but only when parked facing downhill. You tell yourself you will deal with it later. Probably time.

This 2008 Land Rover Defender 130 stopped by Moss Rimmer, with its owner calling in for a few parts.
The 130 has always occupied a unique place in the Defender lineup. Longer, tougher, and built to carry serious loads, it became the go-to choice for owners who needed practicality without sacrificing capability. Whether used for work, overlanding, towing, or everyday life, the 130 earned its reputation by simply getting on with the job.

By 2008, the Defender had evolved into one of the most recognisable utility vehicles ever built. Under the bonnet sat the 2.4 litre Puma diesel engine, bringing improved refinement and usability while keeping the rugged, mechanical feel that defines a proper Defender.

What makes this one stand out is its honesty. No overbuilt show-spec setup. Just a well-kept 130 that looks like it gets used properly and looked after the right way.

Happy Birthday to the Triumph TR7.

When the TR7 arrived in the mid-1970s, it marked a dramatic shift for Triumph. Gone were the curves of earlier TR models, replaced by sharp lines, pop-up headlights, and the now-famous wedge shape that made the car impossible to mistake for anything else on the road.

Bold styling aside, the TR7 represented a new direction for British sports cars. More refined, more usable, and designed for a changing era of motoring, while still delivering the character and involvement Triumph drivers expected.

Over the years, the TR7 earned its place through rallying success, loyal enthusiasts, and a reputation that has only grown stronger with time. Once controversial, now celebrated.

Distinctive then. Distinctive now.

Some cars never really go out of style. The Triumph TR6 is one of them.

This TR6 stopped by MossRimmer recently, with its owner calling in for a few parts and a look around the showroom.

Launched in 1968, the TR6 became the final evolution of Triumph’s traditional six-cylinder roadster formula. Underneath, it retained much of the proven TR chassis, but the styling was completely reworked by German design house Karmann, giving the car its sharper, more aggressive look that still defines it today.

Powered by Triumph’s 2.5 litre straight-six engine, the TR6 delivered exactly what enthusiasts wanted from a British sports car. Strong torque, a raw mechanical feel, and proper open-top driving character.

More than 90,000 were built, with many exported around the world, helping cement the TR6 as one of Triumph’s most successful sports cars ever made.

And seeing examples like this still being driven and enjoyed properly is exactly what it is all about.
