New workshop with HB-55-75 on the home straight & 76 PRT receiving pre race prep for Classic Sports Car Club, Swinging 60's racing at Silverstone on Saturday. "CSCC LIVE" on youtube.
Our 1840cc FIA engine block cracked last year, so having collected the parts over 2 years, CMES got the green light to build the 1998cc engine, eligible for CSCC's Swinging 60's

May 2025 Testing in 76 PRT.
New 1998cc engine, new paddle clutch, scrubbing in Yoko tyres, bedding in new brakes and fine tuning an all new set up.. Yes, that's right, it's not FIA Spec! We're doing something different this year πŸ˜†

76 PRT was entered for both Equipe Libre Snetterton 300 races during last winter and at the last minuite I joined the other seven Grantura MkIII's entered in the GTS grid as well.
(B-day weekend and two year absence from Snett), so why not!
The thunderstorms cleared on the way up in time for a nice sunset track walk. With the BBQ lit, Arjan & Claire arrive with the Galaxie, food and cold liquid refreshments. Everyone was well behaved and in bed by 10pm!
76 PRT was faultless in practice from 9am, Saturday during all four quali's and four races through Sunday.
To put this into perspective, our own race prep involves two mechanics checking off a three digit list back at the Retroracecar workshop. Mechanics Mark & David then work together on a separate race day prep list in between stints during the race weekend.
Our FIA Grantura MkIII generally qualifies inside the top ten with me behind the wheel. In the races we finished 1st, 2nd and 4th in class, with one DNF in GTS race 2. The red flags came out to clear the few who got caught out in the wet. I was already drifting further down the order on spent L sections, so decided to call lunch. Conveniently, the race restarted shortly after I'd finish my ham ploughmans and for a moment I considered re-joining from the pit lane, but it was still raining and I still had spent tyres, so that was the DNF.
Overall, a fun weekend peppered with a couple of standout BS moments, but outweighed by some close racing with Jack Wilmott, Mark Holme and Rob Cull. Next stop is the Super Sprint at Silverstone on the 5th of October.

We have started work on restoring this original TVR Grantura MK3 1800. The car has been stripped down and the body has been separated from the chassis. Now we can begin repairing the fibreglass and bonding in new floor panels, ready for the new chassis.

The only thing that's "Retro" about this is me & Simon Fox . I think it's 26 years since my last 24 Hours of Le Mans with Simon, who hasn't stopped going... Incredible to now share this with my son Harry, his mate Charlie & Harry's Godfather - Foxy😊

One of the highlights of Equipe Classic Racing Summer Classic was driving to 9th overall in GTS from 26th on the grid. From there I dropped 5 places due to a fuel surge issue on the last lap πŸ˜†The Libre race resulted in some close racing and 2nd in Class, but not without a rough idle that developed just as I lined up on the starting grid! Anyway, with the problems fixed, the BBQ came out in the evening sunshine and we had a great time... Sunday's early Quali went much better. The car was faultless all day, which resulted in 1st in class for Libre and 3rd in class for GTS.
The quickest drivers are on another level to me, but what I found rewarding was the close racing from start to finish with competitive but sporting drivers in well turned out, rapid cars on a mixed grid. What a great weekend. Next up is Donnington in 4 weeks.. Can't wait!

Just Mark & I at Oulton Park on Saturday in my 2nd race since 2022. We converted 76 PRT for road use last year but I got bored, so it now has a fresh HTP as well as road tax πŸ˜†... Anyway Rob entered me into Equipe GTS as a surprise on top of the Equipe Libre race I'd already entered. Alot to get turned around.. Quali was my practice, we skipped lunch, started 16th/20 on the grid and finished 6th oa & 3rd/16 in class. 😊 Half an hour later we started 18th/25 oa πŸ˜† in the Libre race and finished 12th at the end. Had a great race with Hugh & Steve.. I beat my PB and got 2x nice class trophies for momentos as well πŸ‘
I want to say thanks to Rob & John @ Equipe Classic Racing and David Yeoman for the great shot of my car on track. See you at Silverstone .

After a blown core plug on the last laps of yesterday's race, we are ready for day 2.
