If you told me 6 years ago where Zoe and I would be today, I’d have thought you were dreaming.

When we started our business on our driveway, we had absolutely no money. We didn't understand how to run a business, we had zero structure, and we were charging next to nothing for our work. It got so tough that we actually lost our house and had to drastically downsize and change our entire lifestyle just to keep the dream alive and make the business succeed.

In the beginning, it was pure survival mode—working 7 days a week for almost 3 years straight.
But looking back, every single hour of that sacrifice was worth it.

Today, we are sitting on nearly 300 five-star reviews, a community of hundreds of incredible connections and genuine friends, and—most importantly—the freedom to travel and actually enjoy our spare time.

We went from having no structure and no money, to successfully building our business around our life, and our life around our business.

⚠️ The Nightmare Scenario (And How We Fixed It)

At Exeter Valeting and Detailing, we love our regular clients. One of our favorites brings her pride and joy to us every 4 weeks for an exterior valet to keep it looking pristine.

But recently, disaster struck...

She took her car to a main dealership (BMW) for a routine service. Despite not being asked to, the garage decided to do a "complimentary" wash. The result? The paintwork was left severely damaged with heavy swirl marks and deep scratches.

⏱️ 10 Hours of Pure Dedication

She brought it straight to us, and we got to work. We performed a rigorous two-stage paint correction, spending 10 intense hours machine polishing the paint to level out the defects.
The result? It didn't just look good as new—it looked significantly better than the day she picked it up from the showroom.

☀️ No Filters, No Tricky Lighting—Just Perfection

You’ll notice that a lot of our "after" photos are taken in direct, blazing sunlight.

A lot of detailers hide their work in the shade or use clever angles because shadows hide micro-marring. We don't do that. We are incredibly proud of what we do, and we know our techniques actually remove the defects rather than just filling them in with cheap glazes.

Lesson learned: Always tell your dealership "DO NOT WASH" when you drop it off for service! But if the worst happens, you know exactly who to call.

We've come a long way from cleaning cars on our driveway for £4 a pop. 🤩😂

But seriously, nearly six years ago, we had nothing. No business plan, no savings, no idea how to even start. We were struggling personally—overweight, battling depression and on medication, with minimal self-belief (we could barely cook, let alone detail a car!).
