This dealership coating has failed. Time to put it right. 💙

Contamination needs removing, not coating over. That’s where proper preparation starts.

On this SL400 AMG, the existing dealership coating appears to have been applied over embedded contamination. Even after decontamination and claying, the surface still feels far too grippy.

The trims are coming off so I can properly clean, correct and ceramic-coat the paintwork, including the edges and areas normally hidden underneath. That means full paintwork coverage, rather than simply working around the trims and leaving those areas untouched.

The failed coating is being removed before I begin a three-stage paint correction to maximise the gloss, restore clarity and bring out the full potential of this lovely blue metallic.

Once the correction and final preparation are complete, I’ll carefully apply Wax is Dead® Ultimate+ 10-year ceramic protection before refitting the trims.

This is the starting point. Looking forward to showing you what that blue can really look like. 👀

This Evoque has certainly made me work for those reflections. 👀

Range Rover Evoque Autobiography, treated to a 3-stage paint correction and Wax is Dead® Ultimate+ 10-year ceramic protection.

There were plenty of deep scratches to work through. Careful correction has brought back the depth and clarity, removing or reducing defects as far as the paint safely allowed.

Then Ultimate+ ceramic protection to help keep that finish looking its best and make future washing much easier.

Well, that’s one way to ceramic coat the floor. 🤦‍♂️💸

A freshly opened, completely full bottle of Wax is Dead® Ultimate+ slipped straight out of my hand. Smashed bottle, coating gone. An expensive mistake in a split second.

I’d love to say I took it calmly and professionally, but there’s a reason this is a photo and not a video… 🤬😂

You’ve seen it prepped and ready. Here’s how it turned out 👀

The SL400 is finished and back with its owner, following three-stage paint correction and Wax is Dead Ultimate+ 10-year ceramic protection.

A fair few hours went into this one. Very pleased with that finish 👌

You can polish a whole car and still have your eye drawn to the build-up around the badges.

On this Mercedes SL400, stubborn mineral deposits had built up tightly around the lettering. Removing the badges allowed me to properly reach those areas and carefully polish away the deposits and outlines left behind.

Extra care was needed with the resin composite boot lid, as it doesn’t disperse heat as effectively as steel or aluminium during polishing.

Now the paintwork is ready for fresh badges that will stand out for the right reason. 👌

One household wipe. Nearly £4,000 to replace the LCD screen in this Nissan Qashqai 😳

A worktop wipe containing bleach was used to clean it. The chemical wasn’t neutralised, and the vehicle was then left in direct sunlight. This is the result.

In this case, it was an understandable mistake by the owner. But the same damage could easily be caused by a valeter using the wrong chemical or process.

Before choosing a valeter, make sure they understand exactly what’s in the products they use and have insurance that actually covers the vehicle they’re working on. Price alone tells you neither.

A few quid saved by choosing a cheaper valet can quickly become thousands spent putting one mistake right.

Quite a turnaround on this Hyundai Ioniq today 👀

It’s due to go back at the end of its lease in two weeks and arrived with extensive scuffing and scratches running along one side, including the doors, rear quarter and bumper.

Once it had been properly cleaned and brought under the studio lights, the full extent of the damage became much clearer. Careful machine polishing and targeted scratch reduction removed or heavily reduced the marks without taking unnecessary risks with the paint.

The difference is huge, and the car is now in a far better position for handback.
