Please be careful everyone. Scammers are everywhere and getting more creative by the minute. If only they could use that talent in a positive way, what a wonderful world it would be 😓 Stay safe 😊

SCAMS ALERT!

There are a number of scams that have been targeting residents across County Durham in recent months including:

🔵QR code to pay for parking - QR codes have been left in council car parks or parking places as an option to pay for parking. Our car parks do not have any on or off street parking place that is payable by QR code.

🔵 Winter fuel payments - Residents are receiving text messages from telephone numbers beginning with +485, claiming to be from us, and providing a link to claim a winter heating subsidy benefit.

🔵Our Trading Standards officers have been made aware of an ongoing nationwide scam that is taking place online, mainly on Facebook Marketplace. Fraudsters, pretending to be the legitimate London based company, Carwow, have been advertising motor homes and camper vans.

"How long will it take to pass my driving test?" Is the number one question I get asked all the time. Here is what the DVSA says about it, but it is honestly up to the individual's private practice and learning ability.
Some take longer and some take a shorter period of time and there's really no telling untill you've got at least a minimum of 30hrs under your belt. The trick is to not take long gaps between sessions and to do some private practice to solidify the knowledge passed on by the instructor.
