Saw this last night on social media and it made me both giggle and inwardly cry all at the same time 😂🙈

Funny how many people pass their tests still with this attitude! 🤣🚗 so many of my friends will avoid parallel parking, either by choosing not to drive to start with 🤦‍♀️ or by parking elsewhere…..

Not on my watch! 👀 why would you live life scared to park 🤔

My learners gain the confidence to tackle parallel parking without the drama, the dread or the desperate search for a space in the next postcode! 😂

Because guess what? Parallel parking really isn’t as scary as everyone makes out when you know how!

🚨 A PUBLIC APOLOGY FROM KATY COLLINS SCHOOL OF MOTORING 🚨😂

I’d like to apologise in advance to anyone who happens to witness my increasingly questionable contortionist performances in and around my car over the coming weeks.

Unfortunately, we’ve reached that time of year where it’s either risk being soaking wet through from the rain between every lesson, or learn to fold myself into positions that would concern a qualified chiropractor. 🤸‍♀️🤣

So, if you happen to drive past and see a leg wrapped around my head, a foot somewhere near the headrest, or me looking like I’ve been assembled incorrectly… please don’t panic.

I’m not injured. I haven’t lost the plot (well, not entirely). And no, this is NOT part of the driving lesson! 😂

Please respect my privacy during this difficult and deeply undignified period. 🙏🤣

Normal service will resume when the rain stops and I can return to being a driving instructor rather than a budget Cirque du Soleil act. 🎪😂

I’ve said it nicely. I’ve reminded you. I’ve probably mentioned it approximately 47 times. 😂

STOP PUTTING YOUR THEORY OFF! 🤦‍♀️

Practical tests are in high demand, so there’s already a wait — and you CANNOT BOOK YOUR PRACTICAL UNTIL YOU’VE PASSED YOUR THEORY.

So please don’t get to:

“Katy, I’m ready for my test!” 🎉

…only for me to ask:

“Brilliant. When did you pass your theory?”

“Erm… I haven’t.” 🫠

🦩 TODAY’S DRIVING LESSON SOMEHOW TURNED INTO A DISCUSSION ABOUT FLAMINGOES…

One minute we’re talking about driving… the next we’re debating:

“Why do flamingoes stand on one leg?” 🤔😂

And yes, naturally, I had absolutely no idea… so obviously I had to investigate! 😂

Turns out, standing on one leg helps flamingoes conserve energy. Their unique leg and joint structure means they can essentially “lock” their standing leg into position, allowing them to balance with surprisingly little effort.

Apparently, it’s actually less tiring than standing on two legs. 🦩

Which got me thinking…

👉 Why don’t humans have this feature?!
Imagine the fuel we could save on lessons if I could just lock one leg in place! 😂

So there you go… driving lessons: improving your road skills AND your random wildlife knowledge.

A little apology for the delayed replies! 🙈

If you’ve messaged me recently and I haven’t replied until later in the day — or even the following day — I promise I’m not ignoring you! 😂

I currently have NO mobile data 🤦‍♀️ which means I can’t get online or access any of my internet-related apps between lessons like I normally would. So, I’m having to wait until I’m home and connected to Wi-Fi before I can catch up with messages.

On top of that, I’m currently working 10–12 hour days… don’t ask. 🤣🙈

By the time I finally get home, I’m sorting the family, sorting myself, attempting to remember what day it is… and then there’s Stanley 🐶😂

As you all know, he’s a pampered prince who firmly believes that any spare minute of my time belongs to him 👑 🐾 he apparently works a 7-day-a-week shift as my full-time shadow, personal space invader and professional attention seeker. 😂

So please bear with me while I juggle everything at the moment. I will get back to you — it just might not be as quickly as usual.

Everyone, meet Clarence… the newest member of the Katy Collins School of Motoring team! 🪱😂❤️

Clarence came along to a lesson today with one of my students who can sometimes get particularly anxious and worried during her lessons.

Knowing how much she can overthink and worry, her lovely mum has knitted her a worry worm 🥹🧶 — something she can hold onto when those nerves start creeping in, to help her feel a little calmer and remind her that she CAN do this. ❤️

And honestly… just LOOK at him! 😍 I think we can all agree Clarence is absolutely gorgeous! 🥰

So Clarence has officially been promoted to Chief Anxiety Officer and will be joining us on lessons whenever he’s needed. 😂🪱

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that can make the biggest difference. And there is absolutely NO shame in needing a little extra reassurance when you’re learning to drive.

We’ll take it at your pace, work through those worries together and, most importantly, remember that being anxious doesn’t mean you’re not capable. ❤️🚗

3️⃣ Pulling out in front… then doing 20mph 😩
4️⃣ No thank-you when you let them out 👀
