A few of the timing system jobs we’ve had through the workshop this week. 👇

From traditional cambelts, to timing chains and the increasingly common wet-belt systems, we’re carrying out all types of timing belt and chain work here at Curdridge Automotive.

These jobs aren’t something you want to leave to chance.

Correct procedures, specialist tooling and manufacturer specific technical information are all essential when working on modern timing systems.

And with wetbelt systems in particular becoming increasingly common, it’s important to make sure they’re inspected and replaced correctly, using the correct parts and procedures.

🔧 Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue – Injector Removal 🔧

Another job in the workshop this week involving a 2.0 EcoBlue engine, removing the injectors using the correct specialist tooling.

These injectors can become extremely difficult to remove, and trying to force them out using unsuitable methods can result in serious damage and a much bigger repair bill.

Using the correct extraction equipment allows us to remove even stubborn injectors safely, reducing the risk of damage to the injector, cylinder head and surrounding components.

⚠️ A little warning if you drive a vehicle with this engine:
The 2.0 EcoBlue isn’t just found in Ford Transits. This engine has been used across a number of different vehicle applications and manufacturers, so injector issues and the associated removal problems aren’t exclusive to the Transit.

If you’re experiencing rough running, misfires, excessive smoke, difficult starting or an engine management light, don’t leave it until a small problem becomes a much bigger one.

🐦 WHEN YOUR BRAKES START SOUNDING LIKE A BUDGIE…

Yes, you read that right. 😂

This brake disc was severely warped, and the result was a rather unusual noise every time the wheel rotated.

🎥 Turn the sound up on this one! 🔊

What sounds like a little budgie trapped behind the wheel is actually the brake disc contacting the brake components as it rotates.

The disc was so badly warped that it was causing the noise — another example of why unusual noises from your brakes shouldn’t be ignored.

🔧 We diagnosed the issue, identified the cause and got the braking system back to where it should be.

If your brakes are:

❌ Grinding
❌ Juddering
❌ Making strange noises
❌ Vibrating through the steering wheel

An oil change isn’t just about draining the old oil and pouring in new.

Yes — the smoke machine video is actually perfect for a diagnostics post because you can show the fault being found rather than just showing the repaired car.

💨 FINDING A BOOST LEAK — SMOKE TESTING

Another fault found and diagnosed in the workshop today. 🔧

This vehicle came in with a boost-related issue, so rather than guessing and replacing parts, we carried out a smoke test to locate the leak.

💨 And there it was…

Smoke escaping from a split boost hose, pinpointing the source of the problem.

This is why proper fault finding matters. A boost leak isn’t always obvious by simply looking around the engine bay — using the right equipment allows us to find exactly where the system is losing pressure.
