More work completed on the Gurney Nutting bodied Derby Bentley. They were incredible craftsmen and women back then, and trying to recreate what they originally di is very time consuming, but I am getting there slowly.

Very rare Gurney Nutting bodied Derby Bentley Sedanca Coupe. Latest long term project started for a customer. I have initially had the car in to trim the sedanca coupe roof and make and fit the main parts of the headlining as the car is then going back to the owner to have some more work done before it comes back to me for trimming the inside. This has been a big challenge due to the fact the car was dismantled many years ago and all of the roof trim was thrown away. As you can see from the pictures it has a sedanca opening front roof which rolls back after the arms are folded in and held up in position with straps. 6 lengths of brass pin bead were made and had to be covered by hand sewing the hooding along the back of each length, very time consuming. Overall has come out extremely well and the efforts have been much appreciated by the owner.
I will update as the restoration progresses.

Finally finished the Aston Martin DB2/4 and had it delivered back by Peter a good friend of mine with a transporter, to Alan the restorer who rebuilt the body and running gear.
As stated in a previous post this has been a massive job, purely because virtually all of the original interior was missing.
It has really turned out well considering and the owner is absolutely delighted with it, which of course makes it all worth while.

Latest job almost finished.
Aston Martin DB2/4 1954.
This has been a major total rebuild and retrim.
It has been in the same family for a long time, the problem with it was it has been used as a racing car for the last 20 years, so unfortunately the interior was either thrown away or rotted away.
I have spent many hours researching a looking at pictures of other cars to try and get it back to how it would have looked.
Literally everything has had to be remade, rebuilt and retrimmed.
The owner went for its original colour Connolly leather, Wilton carpet and West of England wool cloth headlining.
With just the screens to go back in and one or two small pieces of chrome it is almost ready to go back to its owner who is delighted with the out come.

Latest on going job is a Datsun 510 Bluebird 1973.
This car is having a full resto mod from the ground up.
I have had to redesign, build and trim from scratch as much as I can without the car as it is still in the paint shop.
Front and rear seats, dash top and centre console all of which were in a really bad state are now done.
Just waiting for the car now so I can do the headlining, panels and carpets.

Latest job just finished.
Jaguar D Type repro.
I had to design and build the seats to customer specification due to space being very tight and being uncomfortable particularly on longer journeys.
Built and trimmed them in suede green rather than the dark red they were done in, goes really well with the body colour.
I also had to re design the tunnel top and make it look a bit more period along with matching gators.
Worked out well again and hopefully will be more comfortable for the owner and also looks more in keeping.

Just thought I would post a few pictures of a job I have recently finished for a customer.
Its the upper and lower dash panels for a S3 Land Rover which I am being told are still not available.
The customer bought them to me a really bad state and couldnt find replacements. I had to strip the lower panels to the bare metal and have all the welding done from where water had run in from the bulkhead. Once this was done I etch primed and painted them, patterned and re covered in a matching grain black vinyl.
Quite time consuming but if you cannot find good replacements there is not much choice.
Worked out well and a very happy customer who happens to be getting married in it later this month.

Just finished this early 60s Mini Cooper.
Somebody had already stripped the car and had a go at trimming it, unfortunately the customer wasnt happy with it and gave it to me to rectify and do things properly.
This involved new headlining and sun visors, new carpets, all new door and quarter panels, the screens had to come out to enable the trimming of dash area and rear headlining panels, adjustment of poor fitting doors, replacement door seals, also the stripping and rebuilding of the rear seat squab and cushion.
All pretty straightforward except that being tall it is murder on the old back lol.
Worked out well, ,with great colour combination and another happy owner.

Latest job just finished.
Alfa Romeo 4C.
Replace existing panels and trim with new carbon fibre ones along with a speaker upgrade while the doors were apart.
Quite fiddly but over all it does really look good and a real transformation. I cant believe Alfa didnt do this in the first place as some of the original trim did look quite bland.
