2CVGB National early bird raffle results

Bookings for the 2CVGB National weekend are coming in well, and the chance of winning your early bird tickets for free in the raffle got the bookings flying in. We drew the raffle at the committee meeting on the 8 March and the lucky winners were Darren and Lisa Arthur with ticket number 602-0052. Darren and Lisa however, got in touch to ask us to donate the £100 prize to the charity, Kennedy's Disease UK. Thank you both, and we have happily done that for you.

The 2CV National weekend is open to members and non-members alike. This year the 602 Squadron are hosting the 2026 2CVGB National on 4th – 6th September at Hooton Lodge (S65 4TE). Set in a quiet and secluded area of South Yorkshire, Hooton Lodge is a family-run campsite and events ground only 10 minutes from the M1 and A1.

2CV Ecosse - Raid Murrayfield 2026

Making our French Rugby Friends Welcome in Edinburgh

In 2CVGB News this month we find out about the 2CV Ecosse local group outing to Edinburgh that went ahead despite last-minute news that founder Joe Cent and his wife were stranded abroad. Undeterred, organiser James Storrar ensured everything ran smoothly, carefully planning the route, meeting points, and safety guidance for the group’s “non-convoy.”

The day began with a scenic drive north through snowy landscapes and wind farms before gathering at Swanston Golf Club. Fourteen colourful 2CVs and their drivers met for refreshments before setting off. The group convoyed as they entered Edinburgh, joined by a Mobylette and a Vespa that helped guide some of the participants.

Travelling through iconic city streets, the group attracted attention and enthusiasm from onlookers in the city for the six Nations Rugby game, especially in the busy Grassmarket area, where they paused briefly. Even a minor breakdown didn’t dampen spirits. The procession created a cheerful, chaotic spectacle, with crowds clapping and cheering as the cars made their way through the city.

The day concluded at the Modern Art Gallery, where participants relaxed, socialised, and carried out minor repairs. The event was deemed a great success, with thanks given to James and anticipation already building for future gatherings.

New 2CVGB Committee members

In the April issue of 2CVGB News two new committee members introduce themselves.

Firstly, Emily Sidaway introduces herself as the new co-opted Vice Chair of the 2CVGB. She has been a member since 2022, although her connection to 2CVs began in early childhood through her family. Growing up in Derbyshire, she later studied at university and now works as a doctor in Barnsley, living in Sheffield with her partner. Emily shares ownership of a 2CV Spécial with her brother and previously owned a Charleston.

She is eager to contribute to the club, with the goal of learning more about its structure before potentially applying for Chair in future elections. As a younger member, she is particularly motivated to encourage greater involvement from younger enthusiasts and is already developing ideas with the committee. Emily views 2CVGB as more than a club—it is an important community she hopes to support, grow, and modernise while preserving its welcoming spirit.

The second new committee member is Jonathan Stuart lives in Dorset with his wife, two university-aged children, and two cats. His passion for 2CVs began in 1989 with his first car, a red Special, followed by several other models including Clubs and vans. Today, he owns a 1984 red Club and a 1976 AZU250 van, reflecting his long-standing enthusiasm for A-Series Citroëns.

Professionally, Jonathan has a background in IT services, specialising in finance systems, and has extensive board-level experience in business management, financial reporting, and company growth. Although he never intended to join the 2CVGB committee, he was tempted to join as Webmaster and more recently stepped in as Treasurer.

He aims to apply his expertise to maintain strong financial standards while preserving the club’s friendly, informal nature. Jonathan is focused on improving financial processes, documentation, and long-term strategy, helping the club adapt, grow membership, and remain relevant as it approaches its 50th anniversary.

Drive It Day 26 April 2026

Liz Rogers the 2CVGB Local Groups co-ordinator encourages us all to take part in Drive It Day 20026 on Sunday 26 April.

Today the sun is shining and the daffodils are flowering. Spring is definitely in the air, so it’s time to give your little beast a wash and brush up. Sunday, 26 April is Drive It Day, an event 2CV groups all over the country have always taken seriously. It is the first major event of the year where we can show off our proud steeds, who are no doubt champing at the bit.

This year we are endeavouring to be as inclusive as possible. We have created a list of participating groups, see below, but I feel sure more events will have come along in the last month, so why not pick up the phone and ask your local group what they are doing? Please join them, and be sure to get a plaque to support a great charity.

The Professionals

The Professionals feature in the April issue of 2CVGB News explores Graham Wilson’s lifelong passion for the Citroën 2CV and the creation of The 2CV Workshop.

Graham recalls first admiring these cars in the 1980s, when friends drove cheap, quirky models like the 2CV and Dyane. After leaving a conventional job—unwilling to trade personality for a generic company car— he returned from travelling to find several 2CVs needing repair outside his home. This sparked the start of the business.

Initially focused on repairs, welding, and fitting chassis, The 2CV Workshop grew into a thriving enterprise and personal lifestyle. Over time, the Graham restored and collected large numbers of vehicles, even rescuing them from barns and scrapyards. Today, the business offers a personalised service, supported by family, and remains rooted in a passion for keeping these cars on the road.

Graham praises the 2CV is for its simple, durable design and charm. Despite challenges of maintaining older vehicles, strong parts availability ensures their future, allowing enthusiasts to continue enjoying them daily.
