its been pretty full on here at blacktop chassis worx with the vw project and the updates for the cortina, but as well as the jag based chassis kit i am now well into designing up a corvette c5 / c6 suspension based package , will post more news as i get closer to final details .

little update on the cortina, with its last show done for this year i have decided to give it a full revamp for next year as there are a few bits on the car i feel could be better . so among the list are wider rear wheels and tyres, full brake upgrade , rear diff rebuild , full repaint of all the running gear and a much needed tidy up of the body and paint as all the chips and dings are doing my head in . so with all the running stripped of the car it starts here stripping of all the old paint , yes i have a new colour lined up for all the parts but i am going to save that for the unveil when its all done . let the fun begin .

so on the way to squires classic ford show cortina had what i thought was a sticking brake caliper , was not convinced as it was making some funny noises and car still drove ok . tonight i finally got chance to jack it up to see what was wrong . to my surprise it was the n/s front wheel bearing, completely smashed inner bearing. i am sure this was done when i hit a pot hole coming back from the wheels up north evening meet the other week as it also moved the top wishbone mount which meant all the front suspension had to be reset . i am very surprised the wheel is not damaged as well but it does seem to be ok but i am going to have them both balanced in case a weight has come off . the roads are bloody shocking these days.
ordered bearings for both sides as pointless just doing one wheel .

with the car booked in at skipton car show tomorrow wanted to get the bonnet lift supports done, did not have time to paint them but at least the bonnet can now sit on the car and the engine can still be on show .

wow what a week its been, spent most of the week modifying and painting parts for the cortina with it all only coming together on saturday the day before Pendle Powerfest .
so last saturday i decided that the gold i had used on the bonnet stripe ( and the bumpers ) was the wrong colour so everything had to be repainted in a more 70's looking gold ( plymouth prowler orca gold pearl ) and to be fair the old cortina looks better than ever .

all week was geared up to show the cortina at Pendle Powerfest today, weather started very wet but picked up around 11 and we even had some sun . big shout out to the pendle powerfest team for putting on a great show which for them takes months and months of planning . 👍

with the bonnet done i decided on saturday that i did not like the colour gold i had used so this weekend ( gone ) i repainted everything that was gold in a more 70's gold which looks way better . as well as the bonnet i have also done part of the front grill and the bumpers , once they had been fitted today just to make things go down to the wire i have decided that the wheels also need to be in the new colour so they are coming off on wednesday for a full repaint and bonnet is getting polished tomorrow ready for fitting at the weekend , oh and did i mention car has had a full flat and polish starting with 1500 wet / dry , 3000 and 6000 tri zac pads over the last few days.
this is supposed to be a nice easy week off before the powerfest show but what the hell its all good fun . no pics i am afraid see you all at powerfest this coming sunday . 😀

all done, 5 coats of clear on today and pretty happy with how the bonnet has turned out . now on with all the other bit...

all done, 5 coats of clear on today and pretty happy with how the bonnet has turned out . now on with all the other bits that need modifying or repainting as i want to tidy up the whole car before the pendle powerfest show which it is booked in for at the end of this month .
as its air drying ( not baked in an paint booth ) will give it a couple of weeks to dry before flat and polish . can not wait to see it on the car .

so on the last leg of getting the new bonnet done . full day today , got the purple base on and masked up for the gold ...

so on the last leg of getting the new bonnet done . full day today , got the purple base on and masked up for the gold strips ( once i had worked out how i wanted them ) gold on and unmasked. going to leave it overnight and back mask over the gold to lay down a extreme purple pearl to add some sparkle to the base purple and then its on with at least 5 coats of clear.
