🚗 Important Update to Driving Test Booking Rules
At L.A.O Driving School, we always keep our learners informed about important changes that may affect their driving journey.
📅 What’s Changing?
From 31 March 2026, the rules for changing a car driving test will be updated.
You and your instructor will only be able to change a driving test booking up to 2 times (this has been reduced from 6).
This applies to all car driving tests, whether they are booked by the school or by the learner directly.
🔄 What Counts as a “Change”?
A change includes:
Changing the date or time
Changing the test centre
Swapping a test between two learners
If more than one detail is changed at the same time (for example, changing both the date and the test centre together), it will still count as just one change.
ℹ️ Important to Know
When the new rule comes into effect on 31 March 2026, everyone who already has a test booked will have 2 changes available, regardless of how many changes they’ve made previously.
✅ What This Means for You
With the number of allowed changes being reduced, it’s more important than ever to:
Make sure you are fully prepared before booking your test
Avoid last-minute rescheduling where possible
Communicate early if there are any issues
At L.A.O Driving School, we’re here to guide you and help you plan your test at the right time.
For full details, you can read more on GOV.UK.
If you have any questions about your current booking, please get in touch.
