Lotus Twin Cam pistons showing very light marks on their crowns from interference with the valves. A very light skim over the top of the pistons (0.003” of an inch) and they came up as new.

Something different for the New Year! One of our customers recently purchased this Ford V8 powered custom hotrod which had some blowing exhaust manifold issues. After having the car in our workshop for inspection we found that both manifolds had severe corrosion causing cracks and big holes that had been hidden using pieces of a tin can, hose clamps and then hidden under heat wrap.

Due to the nature of the car being a custom build no off the shelf exhaust manifolds were available. The closest ones available and supplied the customer didn’t fit and needed extensive modifications so we were asked if we could modify and fit the ones supplied by our customer. We cut and modified the new manifolds to fit this application using new stainless steel tube and tig welded joints. Now once again this lovely Ford V8 engine has regained its beautiful burble.

We are now able to skim Land Rover TD5 exhausts manifolds. These cast manifolds suffer with warp but we are now able to rectify this issue by re-machining the exhaust faces on the manifold to eliminate this issue. This Ferrari 360 had a major impact with the armco on a track day. Expensive day out but we managed to fit a new genuine rear quarter and repair the rear subframe before it went to the bodyshop for paint, then a full service and valet. Now it looks and drives like the day it left the factory. Another happy customer.

The little Panda’s come along way from the rusty old car that initially came to us for a full restoration. Being an old Fiat rust was a big issue, but here we are several years later with gleaming new paint, lots of custom parts developed by us here at Time Motorsport, and not forgetting a much more powerful engine transplanted from a Fiat 500 Abarth and still retaining four wheel drive! A big thank you to Dave at Interpro automotive for mapping the engine with its new Emerald ECU, and to Harvey at RVG Automotive for sorting the wiring. Next step is for our customer to give the Panda a good shakedown before heading off to the deserts of North Africa to compete in Panda Raid. We will be doing a more in-depth blog on the car in the near future.

Not long now before the classic Fiat Panda 4x4 is off to the rolling road to have its 595 Abarth Turbo engine mapped. All of the Engineering on this conversion has been designed, engineered, fabricated, and machined in our workshop here in the UK.

As far as we are aware Time Motorsport are the first Motorsport Engineering Company to have developed this conversion for the Classic Panda 4x4 in the world! More to follow as development progresses.
