FD Auto Electrical Services

Big news once again for FD AUTO ELECTRICAL SERVICES:

Recently we’ve been absolutely flying, the usual diagnostic work and retrofitting work has been on a steady run but interestingly the newly offered tuning/ emissions services have been working wonders

The next thing I’m proud to offer is…

From the middle of September I will be an authorised retailer/ installer of AutoWatch Ghost immobilisers,

If you’ve been anywhere near the news or even local Facebook groups you know cars are stolen, a lot and this is an obvious solution

They are recognised by insurers so expect a drop in premium but most importantly the extra peace of mind.

If anyone is interested in getting one of these gadgets fitted feel free to get in touch

2016 Renault Captur in for a new Touchscreen radio with wireless Apple CarPlay and better DAB+ signal/functionality

The original units that come in the 2010’s Renaults/ Dacias really struggle with the Radios, either terrible signal or the units lock up completely with no choice but to replace them

In this circumstance the customer opted for a 9 inch Android system with full wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and DAB+

While we were there, the customer had mentioned he was disappointed the car didn’t have a reverse camera so we sorted that for him too ✅
1080p reverse camera with functional reversing lines

One of this weeks jobs on a 2003 defender:

Crank no start fault caused by no fuel and a chattering main relay for the ECU

First looked at the wiring loom to the fuse box in case of corrosion/ chafing, had to remove dashboard to access properly and repair faulty cables

Checked ground to the ECU and relay and testing came back to a very high resistance to ground,

Connected relay directly to chassis and it stopped chattering and started right up!

The quickest and easiest solution on old cars with bad chassis corrosion is to run a suitably sized cable directly from the battery to the ground post which we did

In conclusion: in and out in 3 hours, Car runs a dream

Here’s a recent job on an ice cream van

Client had got in touch after recently purchasing it as a project, not realising the electrics were an accident waiting to happen,
Whilst testing her new purchase, the worst did come very close to happening, one of the cables to run a cooling fan, had melted and caught fire

The work I have done includes but not limited to:

-Ripping out unused wiring slung throughout the van

-Installing a sufficient and fused main cable to an auxiliary fusebox to run the machines, lights, chimes and anything else she would like in the future

- Find the cause for the chime no longer working

- Rewire the Machines, Lighting and Chimes to be functional and safe

Van has been left much happier and safer than it was previously and soon it will be on the road

Nice job on a 2015 Porsche Macan S last week:

The first generation Macans still look like a brand new car from a distance, the only thing that lets them down is the outdated infotainment system that they came fitted with

This Customer came to me asking for
- Apple Carplay and Android auto installed as integrated as possible
- Upgraded interior reading lights
- Ambient lighting installation

The results speak for themselves, Bringing a great car into the modern age:

Another Peugeot in for a refreshed infotainment system for a repeat client,

They had previously had an underseat subwoofer installed by myself and had been in contact for me to fit a new head unit that they had supplied,

This car was in and out in under two hours including a spot of fault finding and head scratching
