Good afternoon, as most may be aware Sunday I was involved in a motorcycle accident, as much as it could have been worse I’m still pretty beaten up with the worst part being a broken femur, due to this I am going to be out of action for a good couple of months I would have thought. I’m doing all I can to get any work covered by third party garages that I trust.

It’s not everyday you get to see a modern muscle car on the roads. Here at Smilers Auto Centre we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on vehicles such as these. These Dodge Challenger like all vehicles have their little issues along the way with main one being the propshaft bearing making an irritating clicking sound. Unfortunately the price for a one-piece prop along with import wasn’t an option so with it being removed it’s off to a company in Kent to be rebuilt. Oh yeah the black one is our new personal project to build up for shows. Any issues with you’re vehicles now matter how small or how big don’t hesitate to give us a message.

Following from yesterday’s post here is the story with the works carried out on the Bentley.

On the 22/12/24 a customer of ours purchased this car as a christmas gift to himself. The next day after picking the car up and arriving home he is greeted by a severe amount of steam coming from under the bonnet.

The car was delivered to us Smilers Auto Centre at 5:30pm 23/12/24 and we set ourselves a mission to get it done for Christmas Day.

Upon inspection we found a failed hose clip on the lower radiator hose and also the cooling fans not working.

After hours of dismantling to get to the faulty clip and luckily found we had the perfect size in stock so few hours later problem resolved.

Now to find the coolant fan fault this is where the fun begins.

After the initial checks we found there was no power at the fans so a check of the fuses we found a 100a fuse blown. Using our equipment it wasn’t hard to work out we had wires touching somewhere within the loom.

Now with Bentleys being so well built everything is tucked away and secured give minimal movement. By this time it is now 1:30am and time leave.

With other jobs arriving we are now in for an extremely long day so with other work out completed we get on with the task at hand. 8:30pm we find the culprit wires buried deep behind the headlight surround by lots and lots of wires. With that repaired we now try the fans but still nothing and still a tripping fuse. Abit more inspecting and there we have it another breakage further up the loom but now with black wires due to being open to the element for so long.

Now getting on for 11:30pm all wiring repaired fans now working it’s time to fit the car up. Now we are into Christmas Day and we are still here at 2am. Finally back together and ready to run up to temperature.

Christmas Day we are back at 9am with the car running up to temperature thankfully all goes well and we get to surprise the customer with the car as we pull on his driveway at 11:30am.

With this being said it goes to show we will go above and beyond to keep our customers happy and on the road no matter what time of the year.
