Working out and about in the shadow of the Alton Barnes White Horse, it only seemed right to be tinkering on a horsebox.
Just a service, with some filters changed on site, but being an equine taxi, lifting the cab wasn’t an option.
Luckily, being a svelte, streamlined chap, I slid in between the tyre and arch to reach into the engine bay with ease - and absolutely did not get myself hung up on the brake chamber… 😬😬

Maybe I’ll put the ginsters down and have a salad for lunch…

Apologies for my lack of social media presence, I’ve been rushed off of my feet!
Usual selection of servicing and general repairs, though some highlights included some resurrection work on an old 2CV, a rare glimpse of an oil filter that had been in situ for 7 years (😲), and the removal, strip down and repair of a 4 over 4 Eaton Gearbox - which was a blast from the past!

A new smoke in the shape of a Merc Sprinter with colossal mileage has been added to the fleet, and is currently awaiting me having a couple of hours to put my spanner’s in it!

See you in a couple of months… 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️😂😂

Time Flies when you’re having fun!

How in the name of f**k is it nearly February already?!

With the incredible run of contracting work that I’ve had of late, from Grab Driving, Roller Door Installations, and Estate works, you’d be forgiven for thinking that the spanners were gathering dust - not so my good fellows!

Just a couple of jobs from the last few weeks, including the revelation of an MAN caliper, that didn’t have seized sliders. Definitely on a winner that day!

Transit is in the hedge, tools are in the bin, that’s me done - well until Wednesday… 🤔😂

Thank you for all your continued support and custom, and I look forward to seeing you all after we’ve all packed on a few extra Christmas pounds!

Have a wonderful Christmas and here’s to a sensational 2022. (That’s like the future, with robots and hover cars!)

So whilst Storm Arwen, is battering the country, and moving my fence posts like a gearlever in a Peterbilt, I had the pleasure of working inside today.

Quick removal of a knackered gearbox from this 6 wheeler DAF, gives us a head start for when the shiny replacement turns up next week.

Make hay when the sun shines I always say, or even indeed, when it doesn’t!

Been out of practice with the lorry steam cleaning, last time I did it, I had a grade 1 buzz cut and was clean shaven.

Hmmm, getting crane grease out of long hair and beard, might be a challenge… 😬😬

Heavy old week this one, more hammers and gas axe than spanners and sockets.
This elderly DAF tipper that I look after, finally had its appointment for some major overhauling, and most of the bolts were more than a little reluctant to leave their homes. Needless to say, my shoulders are killing me from copious sledge swinging!
Keeping with the heavy theme, hoisting some replacement batteries up into this lovely little Zettelmeyer loader got the lactic acid flowing, but she’s ready for the cold winter morning starts that are just around the corner.

Might stick to some light servicing work next week,

🎶’Hot town, summer in the city…’🎶

Oh no, hang on, it’s September - where the hell did that go?!
Despite most of August masquerading as October, and working in the rain more frequently last month, than I did the whole of last winter - it’s been a good one, and bloody busy at that, hence my lack of presence on social media!
With MOT’s, general repairs, HGV inspections, there has been more than enough to keep me busy, and that’s without fitting in some light welding to the rapid response Transit, a family holiday to Wales, and adding another broken Land Rover to the collection - I am a glutton for punishment!

I hope you all had a good summer too, and here’s to a cracking September.

‘Watch out, David Bailey’s just turned up!’

Hi everyone! Apologies for the lack of social media presence of late, last time I was on here, I believe I had snow in my beard - now the clocks have gone forward, and there’s a big hot round thing in the sky!

Just to prove that I haven’t been sat around on my considerable posterior, here’s some pics of some of the things I’ve been up to. From trucks to tractors, cars to classics (mk1 Mondeo is a classic, right?🤔😬), it’s been a busy old time.

With restrictions slowly lifting, and the weather going the right way, it’s all starting to look a bit better, and who knows, maybe I could get some photography lessons in the near future!
