🔴 FATAL 5: Seatbelts - Every Journey. Every Seat. Every Time.

A seatbelt is one of the simplest ways to protect yourself and others in a crash. Whether you're driving around the corner or travelling on a long journey, everyone in the vehicle must wear a seatbelt if one is fitted.

🚗 The driver is responsible for ensuring:
👶 Children under 3 years old are secured in the correct child restraint.
🧒 Children aged 3 to under 14 years (or up to 135cm tall, whichever comes first) are using the correct child car seat or seatbelt where appropriate.

👦 Passengers aged 14 and over are legally responsible for wearing their own seatbelt.

❌ Not wearing a seatbelt could result in:
• A £100 fixed penalty notice
• If the case goes to court, a fine of up to £500

Seatbelts dramatically reduce the risk of being killed or seriously injured in a collision. They also help prevent unrestrained passengers from injuring others inside the vehicle.

✅ Before you set off:

Driver buckled up ✔️
Front passenger buckled up ✔️
Rear passengers buckled up ✔️
Children correctly secured ✔️

Don't take chances. Belt up every journey, every seat, every time.

Using a mobile phone behind the wheel takes your attention away from the road, putting you, your passengers and everyone around you at risk.

If you’re driving, keep your eyes on the road and your phone out of reach. Checking a message or notification is not work the risk.

Every journey matters. The causes of serious crashes/people killed or seriously injured on our roads are: speeding, distraction, drink/drug driving, not wearing a seatbelt and careless driving. Make safe choices every time.

Speed limits aren't targets, they're a maximum. Slow down and give yourself more time to react. Arrive safely.

I often have students come to me who are so anxious about driving that they've previously given up. Molly was such a student, so I am incredibly proud to share that this morning Molly passed her driving test first time and with zero faults - a clean sheet!

It has been my pleasure to share your journey with you Molly. I'm also very sad that our weekly chats - sorry, lessons - are no more, and I hope you have many, many great adventures ahead of you.

Using your mobile phone while driving puts your life and the lives of others at risk. No message or notification is worth a crash.

🚫 Put your phone away before you drive. If you need to make a call or send a message, pull over somewhere safe first.

Penalties for using a mobile phone while driving:
• 💷 Fine of up to £1,000 (£2,500 if driving a lorry or bus)
• 🚗 6 penalty points on your driving licence
• 👮 You can be taken to court
• ❌ If you've passed your driving test within the last 2 years, 6 penalty points means your licence will be revoked, and you'll need to apply for a new provisional licence and pass both your theory and practical driving tests again.

Your phone can wait. Someone's life can't.
