This is why maintenance to your engine and keeping on top of your servicing is vital!

This 2019 Ford Transit with only 49000 miles on the clock was recovered in to us as a non runner and we could tell straight away that there was no compression inside the engine. After stripping down the engine, we found the wet belt was at fault and stripped a total of 49 teeth, both camshafts were damaged and we had a lot of broken rocker arms to deal with. All of this damage because the vehicle had hardly been serviced throughout its life.

All new genuine parts direct from Ford fitted and this van is back up and running with no valve damage.

In for some suspension work and a set of much needed H&R lowering springs for this 595. Every Abarth should have had these springs fitted from factory in our opinion. Once fully settled, the springs will drop it that tiny bit lower.

THE FAMOUS WET BELT 😱

Another Peugeot has been through the workshop to have a complete new wet belt/timing belt kit replacement.

These belts in the 1.2 PSA petrol engines found in the Peugeot, Citroen & Vauxhalls are prone to fail if your car isn’t serviced on time or the correct oils aren’t used.

This belt is a vital part within your engine and if neglected, could cause catastrophic engine failure causing thousands of pounds worth of damage. The manufacturers say the belts have a lifespan of 6 years or 62000 miles, whichever comes first. We have seen some of these engines with less than 20000 miles needing a new belt. Unlike traditional timing belts on the outside of the engine, these wet belts are on the inside of the engine, lubricated by oil. As you can imagine, old hot oil and a rubber belt do not mix very well which causes the belt to deteriorate, block up oil galleries, crack and even snap. This is why it is so important to keep on top of servicing your car.

When we carry out these jobs, we don’t just replace the belt; we replace the complete kit which comes with new seals, gaskets, bolts, oil, filter and a new sump pan.
