Lots of work going on at Vanscape at the moment, which is making it a little difficult to keep regular social media posts coming 🤪
However, we thought we'd find the time to post this one up as it highlights one of the main reasons pop-top canvasses often need to be replaced.

The rubber seal that goes around the pop-top shrinks over time and leaves a gap at the back for water to get in and onto the folded canvas when the roof is shut. The water sits there and rots through the canvas, unbeknownst to the owner until they open the pop-top the next time, often in the spring.

There isn't much can be done once this has happened, except replacing the canvas, which is what Vanscape specialise in doing.
BUT, we can also replace the rubber seal on most pop-tops which, if caught early enough, can prevent this damage from happening in the first place - definitely the cheaper option 👍

This lovely Transit Custom had suffered with this problem, like so many other campers have, and so we replaced the canvas with a bespoke upgrade version and renewed the rubber, getting the van looking great and back ready for camping trips.

We've been really busy at Vanscape over the past few weeks with the summer rush!

This job was a little unusual in that we fitted Vamoose awning rails to two almost identical vans - same colour, same age, same roof racks and canopy awnings! The only differences were one van was a LWB the other a SWB and one had a spare wheel on the roof rack and the other had a windscreen sunvisor.

Great to be able to add another useful accessory to these already kitted out vans 😎

VW California Canvas Bellows Replacements.

Vanscape also replaces OEM canvasses from branded pop-tops, including the VW California.

Another Volkswagen California with an older style light grey canvas was fitted with a brand new modern genuine canvas which not only replaced the old damaged one, but actually upgraded the van!

The new canvasses are a smart looking darker grey with light coloured contrasting trim. They have additional ventilation including a fully opening front panel which is similar to a scenic canvas from other manufacturers. The ew canvas also has a contrasting inner insulating lining 😎

Another of the awnings installed by Vanscape this week was this excellent Thule Omnistor 6300 wind out canopy awning, which we installed onto this campervan.

These awnings sit neatly on the roof and are fitted without the need to drill any holes into the van 👍
They are very easy to use and provide an excellent covered space at the side of the van 😎

Vanscape fitted a few awnings and awning rails this week.

This pair was a Vamoose awning rail fitted to a newer shape Vauxhall Vivaro, and then a Direct 4x4 pull out canopy awning fitted onto an old shape Nissan Primastar. We didn't get any pictures of the Direct 4x4 awning unfortunately, because it was too windy to put it out the day we fitted it, but it is great and offers a good value way to provide a covered area at the side of the van.

Vanscape can fit products from many different suppliers and manufacturers, which enables us to cater for a wide range of users with all sorts of vans and styles - it's not all about full conversions and expensive vans!

Vanscape replaced the old style cotton REIMO canvas on this VW Campervan for the newer gortex style type.

This customer is a regular and travels from Wales to Devon for us to work on his van. Many of our customers travel a long way from all over the country so we can carry out work on their vans, in-fact, we've even had customers travel from France, Ireland, and Portugal to have work done 😲

We can replace just about any canvas with either a genuine one, if it's available, or a bespoke made to order one.

Bespoke canvasses often give more options with colour and design, but sometimes it's nice to keep things original, which is why we offer both options 👍

Vanscape replaced the canvas on this Toyota Hiace Devon Sunrise conversion, with a new custom-made one which included an extra window that the customer requested.

There was a lot of work to do on this one as the pop-top roofs are known to leak and cause a lot of rot and damage.

Overall though, this turned out well and went from being virtually unusable, to ready for many more adventures 👍
