Going back in time a bit here, this was my first big bike after my first taste of motorcycling on a nice Gold and Black Honda CB175 in 1972. Enter a 1973 BSA A65L Lightning which I rode for a couple of years before moving up a notch to a Norton 750 Commando. The Lightning was one of the last models the factory produced, with a white frame and high bars it was in reality more US spec than UK, originally in Red we put lower bars on it and a colour change to Black. A good bike to ride with good handling and adequate performance and unusually for a Brit bike of that era decent reliability.

Just a quick heads up to all the valued customers that have bought bikes off me over the last 35 years or so, I will be closing GRM in the next few weeks and retiring into the biker sunset ! Circuit Paul Ricard.
15-17 April 1977.
A lovely shot showing the ever stylish Tom in action during the AGV World Cup 250cc support race at the big Moto Journal 200 meeting at Paul Ricard, the race was won by Kenny Roberts and the event was marred by the death of Swiss rider Franz Kunz who crashed in 250cc practice two days previously and sadly passed away in hospital on race day itself.
François Chevalier, director of the Circuit Paul-Ricard, decided to organize a 200 miles type race to offer France a big international race similar to the Imola 200.
The first '200 miles of Paul Ricard' race was held in 1974 and was in fact a race of approximately 100 miles, but the arrival of the French weekly publication Moto Journal as race partner in 1975 took the race to new heights and it became a round of the Formula 750 World Championship in 1978.
However the demise of the championship saw the event hosting rounds of the French and European Championships in its final year in 1982 as the Gauloises 200.
