Wow, what a view! ๐ I saw this today while driving on Elizabeth Way Bridge, and honestly, I just don't get why folks get offended by it!
This is the official and only flag of England, plain and simple.
Here's a little history lesson for ya:
The St. George's Cross, that's the red cross on a white background, has been England's official national flag and recognized symbol since way back in the Middle Ages.
Now, the Union Jack (or Union Flag, if you wanna be proper) is the whole UK's national flag. It's got this cool mix of three crosses, representing the patron saints of England (St. George's cross), Scotland (St. Andrew's saltire), and Ireland (St. Patrick's saltire). You might be wondering about Wales โ well, it's not explicitly on there because it was already part of England when King James VI of Scotland (who also became King James I of England) cooked up the first Union Flag in 1606. Just a friendly tip from a foreigner (yep, that's me!): next time you're thinking of moving to a new country, maybe check out its history first.
And more importantly, don't even bother moving there if you find its national flag offensive! ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
