Perfect weather for sanding and undercoating the repaired pieces of the centre console. Looks like a grey jigsaw puzzle but hopefully it'll look spectacular when it's finished! 🤞

A couple of hours without rain today, so the other idler arm replaced. Finally no more sloppy steering.
Still got the other shocker and torsion bar to do, but that's for another day. 😁

Today it didn't rain!
Today was a spectacular day!
Drivers side shocker done the other day, today was idler arm replacement and the another try at removing the broken torsion bar.
Well it's done!
One side complete and Blue is mobile again.
Just the other side to do next, but what a relief and a massive sense of achievement!

Update!
Saturday someone reached out and offered a pair of torsion bars, keys, adjusters, bolts etc. I couldn't believe my luck!
He removed them on Saturday, sent them Monday from the Isle of White and they arrived this morning (Tuesday).😱
That's what happens when vanners rally together and help each other out. I will be forever grateful to him for selling me his gold dusted rocking horse sh*te.

I've learnt a lot about torsion bars whilst searching for the seemingly impossible. For example, gen1 use a bar adapter, but if you get the key with the gen2 bar, you can use that one.
As I'd already bought new shockers and have had new idler arms waiting for the right time, it may as well all get done at the same time. So yesterday it began. New shock absorber fitted on the driver's side.
I just wish this crap weather would sod off though.

Update on the latest torsion bar saga....
It's broke. 😭
Front end is free, back end is snapped off inside the adapter and the adapter has 32 years worth of muck n rust refusing to let go.

Gen1 AWD torsion bar disaster!
Today I got the adjusting bolt 5️⃣9️⃣ and nut/bar 6️⃣1️⃣ out, they appear fine, the adjuster arm 5️⃣7️⃣ looks ok (the tail has not snapped off).
So conclusion.... The torsion bar may have snapped inside the 'adapter'5️⃣8️⃣. My issue is that the adapter is stuck in the arm.
I did try putting it all back together in case it was something as simple as the bolt jumping out of its position in the arm... But no such luck.
I've soaked the arm/adapter in Plus Gas for another day.
I'll put some videos in comments too.

Managed to get the spare wheel on, which is much thinner and gave me vital room back in the wheel arch and gently manoeuvred Blue onto the drive. New shocks arriving today and idler arms to finally get round to fitting.
Once I start dismantling, hopefully I can find out exactly what's broke. 😞

3 day timespan, not started and not moved. It can be clearly seen that at some point it's dropped about 3 inch.
God knows what I'm gonna find under there. 🥺
