These Ford engines have a wet belt, this means that the belt itself is submerged in the oil , but this design has shown that these are more problematic than first thought.
A lack of servicing can cause the rubber to deteriorate and crack causing the rubber to clog the oil strainer, this then starves the engine of oil, which can be catastrophic.
