Two years ago today, on the 14th of October, I officially became an ADI and went full-time as a driving instructor.
I'm forever grateful to Dale for introducing me to Graham at GT Driving School and setting me on this path.
Although I don't count it, I'm sure it’s over 100 people I've helped to pass their driving test in those two years. At the current time of writing this message, to have 60 five-star reviews on Google is amazing. I read and respond to every single one of them, and they really keep me going. It’s so nice to see what everyone has written and said.
Getting a licence isn't the finish line, it’s the very start of the learning journey. I'm proud of everyone I've taught over the last two years, whether you passed first time or after a couple of attempts. You're all equal to me in how proud I am of you passing your test.
For anyone experiencing a setback, when I was going for my ADI Part 3 test the first time round, I didn't pass. I took it as a learning opportunity to push forward and better myself. Failure is just progress towards success, and if we were all perfect, we wouldn't be learning.
I wanted to make sure I'm not just sitting around doing nothing. If I'm pushing my students to keep improving, I should do the same myself. Over the last two years, I've stayed focused on working on my abilities. I did a course with Inspire Instructor Training to improve how I coach and teach. I passed my IAM Advanced Driving, then qualified as an IAMI National Observer so I can coach others the advanced course. I’ve started doing Mature Driver Reviews to help older drivers stay confident and safe on the road, and I’ve recently started working on the IAM Masters.
On top of all that i have been working on creating digital resources, things like digital guides and videos on youtube.
It’s been a huge two years of progressing myself and watching other people progress too. A massive thank you to my mentors, everyone who has supported me, and every single student who has trusted me to teach them over the last two years.
Here’s to keeping the progress going! 😎
