Bodge… or smart repair? 🤔

Is it really a bodge if it’s done properly, safely, and saves the customer hundreds of pounds?

This Peugeot 308 came in with a dipped headlight that had stopped working. At first, it looked like it would be a simple bulb or fuse. However, after carrying out diagnostic tests, we found faults in the BSI/BSM headlamp control circuit.

With the age and value of the car, replacing the control module simply wasn’t a cost-effective option.

Instead, we designed a reliable alternative by installing a fused relay circuit, taking the load away from the faulty control circuit while keeping the headlight fully protected.

The end result? A dependable repair that cost around the price of a pint instead of hundreds of pounds on replacement modules.

At Lewtech, we don’t believe in replacing expensive parts just because a diagnostic machine points in that direction. If there’s a safe, reliable, and sensible repair that saves our customers money, we’ll always recommend it.

This is exactly what we dealt with today.

A customer came to us after someone had already attempted an AdBlue solution. Unfortunately, the job wasn’t completed properly, and just 7 days later the faults were back.

After diagnosing the vehicle, we found that the previous person had missed a key part of the solution. Whether it was cutting corners or simply not knowing the correct process, the result was the same—the customer was left with the same problem.

We rewrote the solution from scratch and completed the additional work that only takes a few extra minutes but makes all the difference.

✅ No warning lights.
✅ No recurring faults.
✅ A proper, reliable solution.
