5 DRIVING TEST MYTHS YOU MIGHT STILL BELIEVE 👀🚗
How many of these have you heard before? 🤔👇
1.Examiners have a pass-or-fail quota? 😮
❌ FALSE!
Examiners don’t have a quota of tests they need to pass or fail. They mark your drive against the DVSA standards. Drive safely and to the required standard, and you will PASS! ✅
2.Examiners are horrible, non-talking DVSA robots trying to trick you? 🤖
❌ MYTH!
Examiners aren’t setting traps. Their job is to assess how you deal with real-world traffic situations.
If they ask you to take the “next available right” and you spot that it’s a one-way street, they’re testing your ability to read signs and respond to the road....not trying to catch you out!
And yes… some examiners even love a gab 😂
3.You stall, you FAIL! 😬
❌ FALSE!
Stalling doesn’t automatically mean a fail.
It depends on what happens when you stall and where it happens. A stall that you recover from safely may result in a driving fault. But if you stall somewhere dangerous or create a serious risk, the consequences can be more serious.
Stay calm, recover and carry on.👍
4.Crossing your hands is an automatic fail? 🙃
❌ MYTH!
There isn’t one CORRECT steering technique you have to use.
The old “10-to-2 at all times” idea isn’t TRUE. What matters is that you remain in proper control of the vehicle and steer safely for the situation.
So if someone tells you crossing your hands automatically means a fail… that’s nonsense! 😂
5.You have to EXAGGERATE your head movements to check your mirrors? 👀
❌ MYTH!
You don’t need to perform dramatic head movements every time you check a mirror 😂
Examiners are trained to observe your actions, including your mirror use. The important thing is that you’re checking appropriately and responding to what you see.
Good luck if you’ve got your driving test coming up! 🍀🚗
