Take a journey through the history of the legendary winter tire family and see how winter innovation has evolved since 1936. From early tread designs and pioneering grip technologies to today's adaptive stud technology, every Hakkapeliitta has been built to help drivers face winter with confidence. Reliable tires help keep everyone on the road safer. That’s why we design tires that deliver strong performance even in the toughest weather conditions. One key safety feature is grip: the better the grip, the shorter the stopping distance on wet, snowy, or icy roads.

When choosing new tires, the EU Tyre Label is a great guide:
🌧️Wet grip is rated from A to E (A = shortest braking distance).
☃️ The snow grip symbol marks tires approved for severe winter conditions.
🧊 The ice grip symbol indicates tires that pass international ice grip tests.
We’re proud that 100% of our latest generation premium tires are rated A or B for wet grip.

And for Nordic conditions where ice grip matters most, all our Nokian Tyres Hakkapeliitta winter tires meet the EU’s ice grip marking requirements.
Our goal: keep pushing grip performance even further, while considering sustainability from raw materials all the way to end of life.

We work every day to make your drive safer while continuously improving the environmental performance of our products. Part of this work is ensuring that our tires are free from harmful carcinogenic chemicals and Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) as defined in the EU’s REACH regulation.

🔍 But we don’t stop at meeting the requirements. Our experts are constantly searching for safer, more sustainable alternatives to replace chemicals that don’t belong in future proof products. This means evaluating materials, innovating new solutions, and staying ahead of evolving regulations.

Did you know tires could be safe and include environmental innovations? One of our initiatives to make your drive more sustainable is our target to increase the share of renewable or recycled raw materials in our tires to 50% by 2030. And we’re already well on our way, as today over 28% of the materials in our tires come from renewable or recycled sources. ♻️

A tire contains around a hundred different raw materials. By choosing recycled and renewable options, we’re able to support a more circular economy, cut our tires’ carbon footprint, and use resources more responsibly. 🌿

And of course, safety comes first. We use only high quality materials that enhance both performance and safety. Achieving this balance takes close cooperation with our partners and years of product development and testing – all to ensure you can make a smart, safe, and more sustainable tire choice. ✅
