This Sunseeker 131 is a 40.05m tri-deck masterpiece drawn by Don Shead, with three decks of accommodation and entertaining arranged around a full-beam master that takes the forward main deck to itself.

That master suite carries a walk-in wardrobe and a double-sink en-suite, set on the same deck as the formal dining area and galley. Below, two VIP doubles and two convertible twins with Pullman berths sleep up to twelve, all en-suite. Throughout, walnut joinery and chocolate leather run consistently from saloon to cabins. Up top, the skylounge gives guests a second saloon with a games table, bar and full-beam sofa, a room to unwind apart from the main deck below.

The sun deck is where she makes her case. A shaded lounge and dining area sits beneath a hardtop with awnings that extend fore and aft; forward, a whirlpool bath with a swim-up bar and four stools sits alongside a teppanyaki grill that turns the space into an open-air dining venue. Aft, a sunpad area rounds it out.

At water level she opens up, a hydraulic swim platform, a Besenzoni passerelle and a port-side terrace give three points of access to the sea, with a full-beam garage aft for the jet skis and toys. Teak runs across all three decks.

Built at Sunseeker International in 2014, she runs twin MTU 12V 4000s at 3,180hp each for a 24-knot top end, with zero-speed stabilisers for comfort at anchor and under way. Her RINA Commercial and MCA LY3 code sits under the Cayman flag, class renewed December 2024.

The Kingship 140 makes an uncomplicated argument for herself, 42.5 metres of aluminium, a tri-deck layout, five en-suite cabins and a main-deck master.

She was built by Kingship Marine of Hong Kong, among Asia's most experienced aluminium yards, and has very low engine hours.

Her interior is arranged across three decks, with the clear separation of owner, guest and crew that a properly scaled superyacht allows. The full-beam master sits on the main deck, with direct deck access and forward views. Four further guest cabins, each en-suite, take her to ten guests. Crew quarters accommodate eight. The saloon and sky lounge are generous and warm, finished in a traditional style that lives well, of its era rather than chasing the present one.

Outside, three decks of usable space are anchored by a sun-deck whirlpool bath, with the main aft deck given to dining and the upper terraces extending the room to move. Her 1.5-metre draft is the quiet advantage: it opens anchorages that deeper yachts of this size simply cannot reach.

Twin Deutz V12s showing 1,499 hours, 34,000 litres of fuel, and a semi-displacement hull that runs in displacement or high-speed mode. She has just completed a month-long out-of-water service and arrives ready to cruise. CE Design Category A, ocean.

Right on our doorstep, the 44th has drawn to a close in the Bay of Palma, and from our office we’ve had a front-row seat to the action all week. ⛵

Organised by the , it’s the most important cruising regatta in the Mediterranean and one of the highlights of the Mallorca sailing calendar, bringing together over 100 yachts and around 1,000 sailors from some 20 countries.

This year’s edition also saw HM King Felipe VI racing at the helm of the Spanish Navy’s Hispania, a fixture of the regatta for four decades.

On 12 August, the moon begins its slow crossing of the sun at 19:37, and by just after 20:30 the sky does something it hasn't done from Spain since 1905. It goes dark, and The Balearics are named as the best place to watch it! 🌚 🔆

Totality reaches Menorca first, at 20:30:01, then sweeps south through Mallorca, Ibiza and finally Formentera, (approximately 3 minutes later) the last stop before the eclipse ends over open sea.

Duration varies with each island, around 72 seconds in Menorca, around a minute and a half in Mallorca, just over a minute across Ibiza, and under 30 seconds by the time it reaches Formentera.

Throughout, the sun sits only 2–3° above the western horizon, setting almost as totality concludes. In those brief seconds, the solar corona appears above the Mediterranean, and Venus, Jupiter and Mercury become visible alongside it, planets and stars over open water, in the middle of an August evening. ✨

The clearest conditions are all along the coast, facing west, Mallorca's Tramuntana coastline and the stretch from Colònia de Sant Jordi to Cap de ses Salines; Menorca's northern cliffs and the Ciutadella waterfront; Ibiza's west coast around Sant Antoni de Portmany, Cala Gració and Cala Conta; Formentera's western shore towards Es Arenals.

From the water, with a full 360° view of the horizon and nothing inland to interrupt it, every stage of the change becomes visible, the temperature dropping, the birds falling silent, a ring of dawn-coloured light forming around the entire horizon, and then the sun disappears entirely.

RAY's sail bears a child’s drawing of the sun, a symbol of solar energy and a reminder that the future belongs to the next generation. 🔆

That thinking runs through the whole yacht. A hybrid-electric Sunreef Yachts 70 Eco with a solar skin built into her structure, RAY draws on wind, sun and water to cruise in near silence, with long stretches of emission-free sailing.

That same care runs through life on board. The interior leans bohemian, natural materials, soft light and an easy, lived-in comfort, warm and unforced rather than anything formal. In the galley, the emphasis is on fresh, produce-led cooking, lighter dishes built around the day's catch and what can be found at each island, so that eating well is part of the rhythm rather than an afterthought.

She is set up to keep you moving, too. On board is a good inventory of exercise equipment for a workout at anchor, alongside a full range of water toys, a SEABOB and paddleboards, wakeboard, waterski and snorkelling gear, with a 4.59-metre Williams Jet Tenders for shore runs.

This winter she sets her course west for The Caribbean & The Bahamas, where she is available for charter.
