Some objects are born from an idea. Others, from a necessity.
The Durum Umbra Paddock was born from both.
It all began in Vila Real, on one of those days when the heat puts both drivers and machines to the test. That was when the TypeR Legacy Cup team set us a challenge: to imagine a Durum Umbra for the racing Honda Civic Type-R EP3.
We had to understand a new territory.
The roll bar made us rethink our internal tubular structure. The windscreen dictated the shape. The colours of the cars, the trophy and the Type-R universe inspired the combination.
And our hands did the rest.
That is how a different Durum Umbra was born, yet one that is unmistakably Autentici.
In Jerez de la Frontera, each DU Paddock finally found the car it had been created for.
Delivering them personally to the drivers was part of the story.
On the identification plate, a message dedicated to each one. And on every piece, a small detail designed to gain meaning over time: the Jerez pin.
The first of many.
With every race, a new pin. With every pin, a place, a race, a memory.
Little by little, the DU Paddock will no longer tell only the story of those who created it, but will begin to preserve the story of the driver and the machine it accompanies.
Because the most special objects also know how to grow older with the stories they live through.
The people.
In the TypeR Legacy Cup, we found a way of being shaped by passion, respect, closeness and a rare sense of cordiality. Values we recognise and with which it felt natural to share this project.
To the drivers, team and organisation, our sincere thanks.
Then came the races.
We listened. We observed. We learned.
In the paddock and on the track, among tools, helmets, hot tyres and engines at maximum revs, we began to notice small gestures. Almost invisible needs. Details that only reveal themselves when you spend time close to the machines and the people who drive them.
We brought some of them back with us.
Jerez comes to an end. The story of the Durum Umbra Paddock is only just beginning.
