In that just one week, while I was away to do my Contender worlds at Medemblik, a lot has happened about our Pure 42 # 2.

Many of the foamcore furniture parts, that have been ready waiting outside the hull, have now been built into their final position in the ship, with the saloon seating group beeing the biggest and most obvious one.
Allthough it still looks all helter skelter with clamps, protecting tapes and all sorts of loose cable ends floating around, the building process is well within scedule.

This is the maybe most exciting and satisfying part of the building process, when everything is coming together at breathtaking speed.

See detail descriptions with the single pics.

What's this???
A carbon mast on an empty, unsanded aluminium hull? A premature whish to get on the water as early as possible?

No, simply the test rigging of the new Axxon Masts on our Pure 42 hull no. 4, which we did for our friend Dirk Manno from UK Sailmakers Deutschland.
Thanks to the cabrio roof the mast could be stepped "inside" the hall, and Dirk could thoroughly measure up the sails on a fully trimmed rigg. According to him the only way to really guarantee a 100% fitting sailshape.

Thanks Dirk and UK Sailmakers for your great sails and support!

Building update for our Pure 42 # 2:

The galley floor is build as a composite part, using two diffrent types of foam ... the yellow one is a lightweight fill-in foam, the red parts are a much harder and denser foam. It can be painted (eg. at the hatch edges) and is strong enough to hold screwed fittings, eg. hinghes or locker handles.
The inlays are cut out in our CAD-controlled milling machine to a very high degree of precision. The whole compound is epoxy-glued and "baked together" between two layers of prefabriced epoxy-glass laminate in our furniture press. Afterwards the hatch openings are cut open in the milling plant in the middle of the hard foam inlays, leaving both hatches and floor openings with a hardfoam cover.

The main electric and breaker cabinet now moves from the cockpit locker to a more convenient position "indoors" in the midship chamber.

Lead bulbs for the next four building numbers have arrived from Schumetall near Cologne, each weighing 2000 kg.

And our beautiful all carbon masts and booms from Axxon are prepared for test rigging, showing absolutely perfect detailing.

Pure Yachts celebrating summer!

This years Kiel Week was absolutely dominated by very hot summer weather and very unstable low winds ... Thats why the racing results of our Pure 42 and Pure 49 at the Aalregatta weren't quite so important, compared to the huge fun our Pure Yachts staff and families had sailing, anchoring, swimming and enjoying the big summer party, that was going on throughout the whole week.

When next Saturday 20th of June the 2026 Kiel Week will open with the traditional Aalregatta - race, both of our Pure Yachts, the P 42 "Tom Kyle" and the P 49 "Gorre" will cross the starting line outside of the Kiel Yachtclub.
The first will be skippered by Urs Kohler, the second by its owner Matthias Schernikau – and rumor has it that there's a bat going on, who will be in front at the finishing line in Eckernförde ...

Pure picture of the day:
Our next projects in line, P 42 no. 3 & 4 ... The first one already rough sanded, the second one unsanded yet. Our production really seems to take off now.

Blocking rehersal:
Yesterday the decksaloon roof was coming out of the mold and was test placed on the aluminium frame of the saloon windows.
It is build as an ultra light composite laminate, with the foamcore milled into shape by our big 5-axis-milling machine.
The whole big part only weighs an incredible 57 kg ( aprox. 75 kg, when faired and painted) and can be carried by two people. Yet it is very stiff, as Urs shows in the last pic.
