Exactly 70 years ago today, drivers Karl Kling and Hermann Lang won the Carrera Panamericana in a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL equipped with Continental tires. ⭐️⌛️

It was one of the most spectacular car races at the time, comparable in popularity to legendary European racing events like the Mille Miglia in Italy or the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France.

Held on public roads, this race crossed Mexico from north to south, covering over 3,300 kilometers in five days with considerable strain on drivers and vehicles. During one stage, a vulture pierced the winning Mercedes’ windshield, injuring the co-driver but not stopping the team from continuing. 🏁

The race was part of Mercedes-Benz's spectacular re-entry into motorsport – with the "Silver Arrows" dominating various racing classes for several years. Continental played a large part in these successes.

In addition to the tires, we also supplied other rubber components of the winning cars. "Ate" brakes allowed the drivers to reach the finish line safely. Focus on competition and a passion to win was and is part of our identity. 🏆
