Despite the Old Time Drags getting rained out, it was still a fantastic weekend. For this season I did some upgrades on the roadster and exceeded my goals. My wheel hop issue is cured with a pair of 40 Ford rear shocks. And I replaced the stock flywheel with a vintage Webber aluminum flywheel and smaller 9” clutch. This shaved 21 pounds off the rotating assembly and brought my best ET down to a 9.78 from a 10.12 in the 1/8 mile.
Brian Betts Bri An once again drove my 32 Ford. His personal best was a 12.25.
Friday afternoon he obliterated the rear U joint and end yolk on the driveshaft in the 32. We wasted no time and made it to Pats Driveline 18 minutes before they closed for the weekend, bought a new end yolk and U joint. Then raced up to Karl Fishers Karl Fisher where he graciously let us use his shop to repair the driveshaft. We made it back and had the car back together only missing one round of qualifying.
Shout out to Big Joe Joe Coughlin and Kyle SlowTug who made the trip out from Rimbey Alberta with the Model T. Those guys have great enthusiasm and I appreciate the effort they put in to traveling this far.
Also huge thanks to the Langley Loafers Langley Loafers Hot Rod Club and Mission Raceway Mission Raceway for organizing one of my favorite events of the season.
