SOUTH AMERICA OVERLAND WITH DESERT FOX
We are following the latest in a fascinating series of overland trips with Desert Fox.

Harold Pienaar, South African creator and designer of the brand, along with his partner Linda are in the thick of a 3 month overland trip taking them through several South American countries while thoroughly testing the Desert Fox gear that makes up much of their equipment.

Their 6th such trip, having biked through 55 countries around the world since 2010.

Desert Fox was born after their first major trip in 2010, up the length of Africa and ending in the Netherlands. While on this route they saw the need for solid, premium quality but affordable gear to meet everyday challenges as well as ways to improve on existing designs.

Since then, the range has grown to where it is now available in 16 countries worldwide.

On this trip the bikes are fitted out with Storm 700 soft panniers and Storm 380 duffel bags. To tackle repairs and other issues enroute they also pack Desert Fox Pro tool kits and Overland fuel bladders.

This is not only an enjoyable adventure. It is also a testing ground for new products ahead of their launch in 2026.

Desert Fox Storm Backpacks and Tailbags

Built to take a pounding and then some. Waterproof, tough and specifically designed for bikers.

The Storm 300 is an everything-proof 30L backpack ready to accompany you on your most challenging routes; shrugging off dust and rain along with the scrapes and spills that happen.
Multilayered & UV coated heavy duty 600D tarpaulin with RF welded seams gives an IP66 waterproof rating and an easy wipe-clean surface. The roll top closure provides excellent security and integrity for your belongings.
Vented shoulder straps and vented back padding provide a comfortable fit.

The Storm 120 is the little brother of the 300, with a 12L capacity and designed with versatility in mind, being equally capable as a waterproof tail bag and mini backpack. As a tail bag it features quick and easy attachment with robust aluminum buckles, and by simply clicking on the shoulder straps it converts to a hardy backpack.
Made from the same materials as the Storm 300 and with IP66 rating, able to withstand brief submersion in water. Aircraft grade aluminium buckles are used for mounting to your bike and attaching backpack straps

The Storm 30 is a multipurpose waterproof 3L crashbar & fender bag ideally suited for Adv and Enduro bikes. Built using the same design and rugged materials as the rest of the Storm range. Simply load gear, or tools and spare tube, roll down the top and head out.

Where in the World?

As the year draws to an end it is a good opportunity to look back to where Desert Fox began, and where it finds itself now.
From small but solid beginnings in South Africa more than a decade ago, Desert Fox has steadily grown into a global accessory brand that now holds its own against even the largest out there.

A near obsessive focus on design and materials quality has led to the range now being sought after by the most serious riders venturing into the harshest environments.
It is this core of exhaustive design and uncompromising quality that has impressed riders the world over and enabled the brand to build a solid foothold in 16 countries in a relatively short time.

Don't Get Caught Out !
Few things are worse than running out of fuel, particularly when riding alone in unfamiliar surroundings and miles from the nearest pump.
A long trudge to find a few litres could be the best case scenario, still something that no rider relishes having to do.
Your bike’s consumption will vary a lot depending on terrain, speed and other factors and figuring out likely range can be at best a calculated guess.

Fortunately there is an easy and reliable solution. The Desert Fox fuel cell.

These rugged liquid bladders were originally designed for the military and are built to withstand the rigours of offroad riding in harsh conditions while providing peace of mind and occupying a minimum of valuable space.
The fuel cell can be rolled up to facilitate storage when not in use.
A resilient plastic RF welded and pressure tested liner is housed in a tough canvas bag fitted with tie-down cinch straps as well as six steel (not plastic!) D-rings offering a range of options to secure the cell to your bike. The liner is non-porous which means that fuel and other odours are not released.
A flexible extendable spout with dust protecting cap is included, and stores inside a dust-proof integrated pouch to eliminate any contamination.

Perfect for carrying any liquid, including water if the cell has not of course previously been used for carrying fuel or other liquid hydrocarbons.

It’s less than a month since we launched in Canada and we are struck by the huge interest we have already attracted, although it is really no surprise as Desert Fox is well established as a premium global brand.

Local bikers had previously been able to find some of the range locally and in the US on a limited basis and at significantly higher cost due to shipping, cross border duties and the like.

We aim to consistently supply and support the full Desert Fox range and make them available at reasonable prices across Canada.
