Carrera 3.0 (1976–1977)
This rare Porsche was introduced to me as “the SC before the SC”.

The Carrera 3.0 was given the same diecast aluminium crankcase as the 930 or ’911 Turbo’. Its 3-litre engine has K-Jetronic CIS fuel injection with enough power to propel you from 0 to “holy sh*t” in no time.

During its two-year life span, only 3687 cars were built. Of these 2564 were coupés and 1123 Targas.

My name is Illya Swan, and I am the photographer behind Car Narrative. Being born into the family of an amateur rally driver and vintage car restorer, the love for cars has been carefully nurtured in me since a very young age. Months of disassembling vehicles and then putting them back together teaches you the language of car design quite well: the materials used, colour choices, and engine displacement are all pieces of a cohesive story that each car can tell us.

My approach to photographing cars lies in the understanding that the whole of a vehicle is greater than the sum of its individual parts and design decisions. Each car has a narrative. It is what makes us buy into this automotive dream despite the costs.
