UpAuto welcomes John Carmichael, ICD.D to the team as our Non-Executive Chair.

John retired from his leadership role at OMVIC in the summer of 2022 and will be focusing some of his time on supporting the UpAuto leadership team to help develop, refine and drive Macro Strategy, Ex*****on, and Governance.

From his time in the Automotive industry, where he held numerous industry roles as well as a dealership owner, to his days in Canada's Parliament as a Member of Parliament (MP), John has developed a unique and valuable perspective to help inform the strategic and sustainable growth of UpAuto.

Michael Carmichael, UpAuto's Founder & CEO (and favourite Son of John -- ok fine.....only son of John) is thrilled to welcome his 'Dad' back into the boardroom, "Growing up in a family business is a very unique opportunity. I am thrilled to have the chance to work with my dad again. I can't tell you the number of times I have witnessed and experienced my father's wisdom in action! It is not every day you can capture this learning, and I look forward to future interactions with me and my team on this front. And for the record, I will always refer to him as Dad vs. John." said Michael.

All 5 of our dealerships are taking new, unwrapped toy donations for local charities serving St. Marys, Stratford & Hanover communities 🧸🎁

UpAuto is celebrating 5 years since their first acquisition! 🎉

Michael Carmichael, CEO of UpAuto, acquired 2 dealerships in Stratford in November of 2017, Stratford Subaru and Stratford Nissan.
St. Marys Buick GMC joined the family in 2018 and Cargo Auto in March of 2020.
The newest family member, Hanover Honda, joined this past September, 2022.

Carmichael says, “The last 5 years have flown by. It has been a fantastic few years – not without its challenges and learnings – however all in all, I am VERY excited for what lays ahead for all of us. Our industry is at a turning point, and we are on the front lines of retail. One thing I can guarantee, the next five years will be more exciting than the last !”

When asked about the business over the last few years in these market areas, Carmichael recounted “We exist to serve our customers with respect & transparency while providing them with the vehicle or service that meets their needs. Big city markets run on price and time. Our markets are all about people and establishing long lasting trusting relationship with those we work with, and those we serve as customers..”
