This channel is about staying active, curious, and engaged with life, regardless of age. It is a reminder that learning, contributing, and pursuing new goals do not come with an expiry date.
Over the coming months, I'll be sharing conversations with people aged 70 and over who continue to live with purpose and enthusiasm. These interviews are not about career achievements or family histories. They are about the wisdom gained through decades of living: lessons learned, challenges overcome, perspectives developed, adversities and mistakes survived, and advice that may help younger generations navigate their own lives.
The name of the channel reflects my own commitment to acquire another sailboat and return to the sea, just after my 70th birthday. The sailboat I'm seeking is 30–34 feet in length, preferably a ketch or a yawl, and ideally with a steel hull – for high latitude sailing.
I'll be documenting the search, purchase, preparation, and the sailing adventures that follow. There will undoubtedly be challenges, lessons learned, and a few surprises along the way. Sailing over the age of 70 will undoubtedly be different from sailing in my 40s and 50s, but that is part of the adventure.
This return to sailing follows a two-year interval during which I completed and published Marine Diesel Basics 2 – How Everything Works, Installation Guidelines, Best Practices. At 680 pages and containing more than 2,700 drawings, the book explains marine diesel systems using clear illustrations and straightforward language.
