Welcome to Hergott Infant and Toddler Care My name is Judy Hergott and I am the sole caregiver. I offer a clean, safe, nurturing, and engaging child care service. My program is based on child care principles, taught through the Early Childhood Education Course by Georgian College. I have 8 years of experience as a daycare provider. Hergott Infant and Toddler Care Program Information Some Fascinating Facts • Children from infancy to age 5 go through development at a very fast pace. At no other time in life does a human develop at this pace. • The human brain is most active during the first 3 years of life. • Early childhood experiences have a direct impact on the actual structure of the brain. • Early childhood experiences have a direct impact on how a person functions as an adult. • Warm, responsive care during the first 3 years is critical to healthy development. • Early childhood development involves a number of developing “selves. 1) Physical 2) Emotional 3) Social 4) Creative 5) Cognitive • It is critical for caregivers to provide healthy development in all 5 areas. My program is developed from 5 premises. 1) The purpose of education is to increase competence and mastery in all aspects of the developing self. It is important to teach children to cope by equipping them with skills. Confidence in their coping ability, is what underlies a child’s sense of self-worth. 2) Physical and emotional health are absolutely fundamental to the well-being of a child. 3) Children learn most easily by means of actual, involving experiences with people and activities. 4) Children pass through varying stages as they develop. 5) Children need time to be children. The purpose of early education is to not urge or pressure child development-but allow children to development at their own pace. Practical Examples of My Care Principles (I will go over the following in detail at our initial interview) • Health and Safety • Caregiver Bonding • Learning through human interaction • Learning through activities of daily living • Learning through independent play • Learning through hands on activities Enrollment and Fee Information • Hourly rate of care is $4 per hour. • A deposit of $100 is required in order to save a space. This deposit is non-refundable if enrollment is cancelled, and is applied to your first week of childcare fees. • There is a minimum weekly fee, regardless of hours. This includes days or hours missed at the daycare due to sickness-vacations-layoffs, -Winter road closures. The minimum weekly fee is your regular weekly fee. • Vacation: Families can take 10 days of vacation per year-with 2 weeks notice, with no minimum fee required. • Proof of child’s up to date immunization record is required upon enrollment.
