There is currently a Province Wide Fire Ban in place until at least Sept 7th 2025 where an update will be provided on the status of the ban at that time.

A province-wide fire ban helps reduce the risk of wildfires and supports the efforts of wildfire suppression teams actioning active fires. Violating a fire ban can result in a fine of not less than $1,000.

Use of gas, kerosene, alcohol, propane or charcoal-burning units is permitted only if the units are not used within 3.5 metres of any trees, brush or other flammable material. Coals used while barbecuing, or as part of any other burning unit, must be extinguished before being safely discarded.

The federal government is delivering on its election promise to make travel more affordable for Canadians using Marine Atlantic ferries.

Starting this Friday, August 1st, fares for passengers and passenger vehicles will be slashed by 50%, and commercial freight rates will be frozen. These changes apply to all bookings for travel on or after August 1st.

As a crucial link in the Trans-Canada Highway, Marine Atlantic is a lifeline for Newfoundland and Labrador. This fare reduction is expected to inject over $28 million into the province’s economy, while encouraging more visitors from across Canada and beyond.

“This is a major win for the province—lower travel costs mean more tourism, more business, and more opportunity,” said Carney.

I was hoping I would not have to do this but the time has come.

Over the past 4 years, we've had traffic coming through Shoal Point RV Park for a look around. We didn't mind that but each year there's more and more tourist and some locals coming through, they are not obeying the speed limit, parking on the grass out front, and going the wrong way on a one-way road. We even has a small grey sedan visit us at about 5am this morning.

In light of all of this and our paying guests safety in mind, you are no longer allowed to drive around our park unless you are a guest here or a friend of a guest.
