Sailing WaveRiders Liane sails across the Pacific to Australia This is the story of our transition from land to sea. The last step is the hardest. Cut the umbilical cord from land.

A couple from the small town of Sechelt, B.C tell their stories of selling it all and moving onto a sailboat that takes them around the world..they get quarantined in Panama after transiting the Panama Canal. We have been taking steps for 5 years now towards our goal of moving onto a catamaran and selling everything we own. The summer of 2016 puts us down to the last 8 or so months until we would

like to sail away. We have started selling our possessions and property.We have been getting all the Physicals to make sure we are healthy and ok to be gone for a couple of years and not have to worry.

Devestated. Sad. I had to stop the ride today. I have the strength and fitness but all the walking, pushing my bike up kms of steep rocky hills has really damaged my broken back more. I can barely use my right leg anymore. Once we got to camp, I could not even move to set up my tent. The pain was so bad that I was not eating and sleeping for the last 4 days. If there was no walking, I would of been fine.
Yesterday I rode the highway to Fernie instead of the trail so my back could rest. I still cannot walk today so have called it quits for my safety.
This guts me.
I will plan a bike trip for next week that requires no walking. In Fernie, I have a couple days to see if my back calms down so I can get home.
Just gutted 😢 😞 Devestated but new this could happen....just wished I was further along. 😢
My triple spinal fusion has broken. I was already in the system to have a redo on my fusion. I was taking a risk on this ride from the beginning.
