🚨 TRESPASSER ALERT 🚨

Does anyone recognize this guy? We believe his name is Elliot. 🦌

Elliot wandered into the Sparwood Towing yard today without checking in at the office, or even asking permission.

We’ll let it slide this time… mostly because he’s handsome and appears to have his own set of recovery hooks.

If anyone knows Elliot, please remind him that all visitors must check in before entering the yard!

Just because we all need to laugh and enjoy the little things...

Meet Rosie the Wrecker 2.0! 🐾🚨

Last year, while we were working on our old Freightliner FL60, she somehow earned herself the nickname “Rosie the Wrecker.”

Fast forward a year… and with absolutely ZERO consideration for the wrecker, towing, or that nickname, this gorgeous little shop dog joined the family and was named Rosie — short for Nosey Rosie, because, well… if you’ve met her, you understand.

Now at about 5 months old, it seems only fitting that she officially takes on the title:
💕 ROSIE THE WRECKER 2.0 💕 (obvious reasons!)

She’s already settling into her role as shop supervisor, road-trip companion, customer greeter and professional nosey parker.

Around here, you really never know what animals you might find hanging out at Sparwood Towing or co-piloting a truck. 😂🐾

We noticed that it has been a hot minute since we have posted.

Between roadside calls, accidents, impounds and everything else that keeps us busy — plus our team trying to squeeze in a little summer vacation time — we’ve let social media slip a bit. 🤨 We will try to do better, but living life is important too.

Today we had the pleasure of doing a recovery just outside of Fernie. Thank you for choosing Sparwood Towing!

And once again… Rosie the Wrecker — our old Freightliner — gets it done! 💪

This is why we love the Elk Valley 💙

Big thank you to Sparwood Towing! When our truck broke down and left us unable to remove an old vehicle from the shop, they came right away.

Quick, friendly, and great at what they do. It is so amazing having companies like this willing to help when we need it. Thanks for bailing us out!

Another load gone. All WE did was drive to Elkford, load these and drive back to Sparwood. An Elkford local spent his own time and dime hauling these absolutely disgusting units out of the bush and to an accessible location. Not all heros wear capes! 🥰 Because of so many locals and their helping hands.... we are getting there. We are making a difference. It really does take a village. 💙 Thank you EVERYONE that goes out there and makes a difference.

Some stories just warm your heart. ❤️

This week, we received a call from the amazing Steve Wood in Elkford, who dedicates countless hours to cleaning and maintaining Round Prairie and the surrounding areas. He asked if we'd be willing to help tackle a heavily abandoned area filled with vehicles, trailers, motorhomes, and more garbage than we could count.

When one of our customers came in for a seasonal tire change and heard about the cleanup, they simply said, "If you're heading out there and need a hand, let me know."
Knowing the size of the project, Anthony took them up on the offer.

Not only did that customer show up, but they brought their own entourage along with them. We were also joined by some wonderful Sparwood Towing family volunteers from the Crowsnest Pass who came down to lend a hand. Thanks to everyone's hard work, we made incredible progress and will be back for a few more days to finish hauling everything out.

This particular cleanup came together on fairly short notice as we were trying to squeeze it in between rainfalls, so the support we received meant the world to us.

We're also in contact with the East Kootenay Forest Task Force and hope to coordinate future cleanups like this with more advance notice so we can get even more volunteers involved and make an even bigger impact.

Moments like this remind us just how amazing our communities are. Thank you to Steve, everyone who volunteered their time, and all those who continue to pitch in and help make our backcountry and communities a better place. ❤️

Sometimes a simple tire change turns into something much bigger, and this week was one of those times.

*Anthony is terrible at taking pictures and I had to sit this one out, so I don't have any pictures of the huge mess either 😅

We just wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to everyone for the support, encouragement, kind words, waves, and conversations lately. It truly means more than you know. ❤️

We’ve had people stop by just to say thank you, and even had one incredibly generous company offer a donation toward fuel costs. While we truly appreciated the offer, we know there are many people and organizations out there donating their own time and resources to help clean up our beautiful backcountry as well that may benefit more than us. 🥰 Just unbelievable kindness.

One recent removal definitely reminded us we need to restock some equipment after hauling so many units lately 😂 — and before we even had a chance to figure it out, some amazing people enjoying the outdoors stepped up, ran to grab extra rope for us, and refused to let us reimburse them. Totally unnecessary, but completely appreciated and made our day! 🥰 You guys are amazing people!

We promise - we are not always that unprepared and we will be restocking right away but the majority of units that we have removed whether it is trailers or vehicles are in such bad condition that it's taking a lot of straps, even using 2x4s to hold the walls into place, or the door shut.

None of that is expected, but those small acts of kindness mean the world to us.

We also know there are still a few areas and units we need to get to — and rest assured, they are on our list. We’re simply trying to find a balance between volunteer cleanup work and keeping the business running day-to-day. We will get there. ❤️

We’ve also decided that, out of respect and professionalism as a business, we won’t be posting photos of every unit we remove. Part of that decision is also to help protect our staff from unnecessary headaches down the road. If concerns or inquiries do arise, we do have designated people who handle those directly.

At the end of the day, we’re just proud to do what we can to help keep these areas clean and safe, and we truly appreciate all the support from this community along the way. Thank you Elk Valley.

Today we get back to our regularly scheduled programming. 🚛

We would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to everybody involved in the cleanup efforts in the Elkford area. The photos, locations and information being shared have been incredibly helpful. By you folks giving it attention, it has grabbed a lot of attention. Ours included. We have done many clean ups in between Sparwood and Elkford and South Country so it is time for us to give back to the Elkford area now.

A special shout out to Steve Wood — not only for meeting us at Round Prairie yesterday and showing us some of the abandoned units, but also for taking the initiative to clean up and haul out garbage himself for years now. Steve, we see what you’re doing out there and we appreciate you.

Another huge shout out goes to one of our own team members, Anthony Marr, who went and got a fifth wheel hitch and installed it on his personal pickup yesterday just so we could haul out some of these abandoned units that our tow trucks couldn’t safely access. That dedication does not go unnoticed.

We would also like to thank the folks who found an abandoned vehicle in the Line Creek area and took the initiative to pull it out closer to the roadway so we could recover it quickly and with minimal resources. Great work, guys.

It truly takes a village. 👏

While out doing removals yesterday, our team noted serious concerns including wastewater near waterways, evidence of fires inside abandoned RVs, and potential biohazard situations in public-use areas. These are a few of the reasons we must keep reporting to NRO.

Unfortunately, some areas are simply not accessible by tow truck due to road conditions, mud, and heavy travel damage. If you see an encampment or unit that is clearly abandoned, please report it to Natural Resource Officers.

You can also report locations to the East Kootenay Forest Task Force through the OFTF app.

Feel free to notify us as well — if OFTF is involved, we can better coordinate efforts to safely get units and debris moved to areas accessible by tow truck.

Thank you again to everybody stepping up to help protect the backcountry areas we all enjoy. ❤️
