Hey Kids been a tough couple years for the Ol Ford Guy, but an update is long overdue.Had a stroke the fall of 23’ and then covid Jan of 24’ and then fell in may of 25’ and broke my left hip, so recovering from that. But I’m still alive, not sure if thats a good thing🤪 but here we are. Somewhere along the way I’ve become an OlMan, sadly I-never saw it coming. Not ready to throw up the white flag yet, guess I’m not that smart, still enjoy what i do work wise and ive still got that 84’ Firebird to finish.
My father is 88’and my maternal grandmother lived till 97, so i have longevity in my genes. Never know what the future holds lol
I appreciate everyone that has stood by me all these years its been a strange journey for sure. I’ve never been a quiter so I’ll just keep going like I’m in my right mind, even though we all know I’m not, not sure if its all the the adhesive fumes I’ve inhaled over the years or if its heredity, either way I’m just continuing on like I’m in my right mind, even though anyone that truly knows me knows that that isnt even possible.
Again Thank You to everyone that has supported me over the years😎
Years ago i met a customer through a mutual friend and after meeting me told our buddy, he said “that Arlo is a weird Dude” and Id never thought of myself that way, I guess we don’t always know what people think of us lol.

I haven’t posted in awhile, health issues have kinda got the best of me the past year, but I’m still trying to fight the fight. Got a win this wknd, 68’ charger I’ve been working on since 2021 won 1st place in the Pro Touring class at Calgary World of Wheels this weekend. Al from Wainwright is pretty stoked tonight. He just sent me these photos.

Sooooooo spent Father’s Day working on my 37’ Ford, for those not familiar, I had broken rings on cylinders so had the the bottom end rebuilt. Went 20over on the pistons and 10under on the crank and had the rotating assembly rebalanced. Finally got everything ready to fire The Black Bitch up only to find out I had a short in my alternator😡
Thank You to my kids for buying me an Alternator for Father’s Day😎😊😎😊
Chris from “All Care Automotive”came over and prelubed it and put the distributor in and fired the Ol girl up. So the Ford with a Heartbeat lives again!!!!!!! Yesterday I found I’ve got a water pump issue, a Big Thank You to Fern at JB’s for helping me out with that today!!!!
Most guys with Hot Rods say “Yeah I Built it Myself” I say,I built that Bitch with a lot of help from my friends………… Quite honestly every project I’ve ever taken on has been with the help of my friends!!!!!!!
So hopefully I can have Black Betty running and take her for a shakedown run by the wknd!!!!!
If any of you are interested I’m going to include a video from Sunday.
A big THANK YOU to all who follow me😊😊😊

So I don’t really have a personal FB acct anymore, so Y’all are stuck with me and my periodic meanderings……
Of course I’m only a click away from unfollow, so y’all have that option lol
Like I mentioned in my last post I’ve been doing this upholstery thing for 44yrs now. Most days it keeps bread on the table and sometimes a little extra for car parts, I had some engine issues the past couple summers, something we call blow by. It’s kinda embarrassing when you pull up to a traffic light and there is smoke coming from under the hood of your ride. Turns out I had broken rings on 3 and 5. What started as a freshen up quickly became a complete rebuild of the bottom end, 30over pistons,10 under on the crank. My $1,000.00 freshen up quickly turned into a complete bottom end rebuild and balance of the rotating assembly. So for all ententes and purposes this is engine #3 in the old Ford seems those trips to Castro Raceway were more costly than I figured 😂😂😂
I guess the question is what price do you put on fun?!?! I Had a lot of fun running the Ol Ford through the lights, a 13.74 at a 100mph ain’t that bad!!!
Not as quick as my daughter in her SRT8 or in her C63 AMG, but quicker than the Nissan Rogue she currently drives. But my son is now the proud owner of a 2022 Mach1 putting out 470hp off the showroom floor, like his sister he wants to head for the track and run it through lights. As the proud father of these gearhead kids I’ll be there to see how he does………
God willing I’ll have the Ford with the Heartbeat up and running by the time he’s ready to go there, should be fun!!’!!!!!
Who knew that having kids would be this much fun😎😎😎

Hey Kids, I can say that cause most of you are younger than me😜
I celebrated ( not an actually celebration) 44yrs in the Upholstery trade ( not a recognized trade, but for lack of a better term) most days it’s been fun, some days it’s even paid some of the the bills. I’ve got to work for some of the best people in the world ( even got to work for a couple celebrities along the way) people I still consider friends. I’ve got to work on some vehicles that have been in magazines.
If success is measured by money in the bank I’m totally screwed…….…..
I’ve said it more than once I’ll probably still be sewing something up the day before my funeral.
I hope my Ol body will allow me to do this for awhile yet, almost days I still enjoy it and I still enjoy most of the people I do it for.
Can’t afford to retire so better still enjoy it lol
Hope to get started on the seats next week for that 68’ HellCat Charger, maybe there’ll be something picture worthy.
Y’all take care and thanx for following the Ol Fart Upholstery Guy

89’ IROC, Texas car been in Canada about 10yrs. New top and weather stripping’s. I never get tired of being around these 3rd generation F bodies. Hope to get my Firebird done before I die, I’ve had it 5yrs already, if not my son will have his work cut out for him😜😂🤪

I have kinda of a Kool project on the go for a guy right now that may be of interest to some of you.
It’s a 1968 Dodge Charger, probably in the genre of what is known as a restomod. It utilizes a full chassis from an outfit in the US that calls themselves Schwartz, it uses a complete HellCat driveline and suspension and gloves under the car with the only real modifications being to the rear wheel tubs and the transmission tunnel. Not cheap, but very Kool. They do them for 68’-70’ B body Mopars and 68’ -72 Chevelle, GTO etc. Not sure what else.
I took this project on a year and half ago and the customer wanted it on the road in May of last year, but people don’t always grasp the amount of work that goes into these projects, I hope he’ll get to drive this year.
I’m not the worlds best photographer but I’m going to attempt to keep y’all updated on my progress.
A lot of sound deadner and panels being built at this point, nothing real pretty. There has been some progress on the headliner and package tray, so that’s where our pictures will start, black headliners don’t photograph that well.

Been a tough winter health wise, hope I’m coming out the other side……..
Still seem to have work which is a blessing at my age, trick now is getting it done lol
I’ve noticed my followers increasing which is a good thing for sure.
My question now is there seems to be a trend to people posting videos of what they do on YouTube. Wondering if there is enough interest in what I do to generate some interest and a following?
My cousin told about this guy that calls himself “Puddins Garage” and he goes out and finds cars in the field and brings them back to life. He seems to have quite a following, not sure what kind of a living he’s making at it, I’ve only watched one episode of his show. But he seems to have quite a following. He’s constantly talking and seems to be surrounded by a couple interesting characters. I remember as a child my mother told me she thought I talked just hear the rapture of my own voice, which quite frankly is the first thing that came to my mind watching this Puddin fellow lol
But if he’s making a living at it good on him.
So my thought is, maybe I can do it as well, any thoughts from my followers would be more than welcome😎😎😎
