Today, Dawson Creek Firefighters were proud to present a cheque for $10,200 to the Dawson Creek & District Hospital Foundation in support of a Family Support Room at the new hospital.

Inspired by Captain Gower's health journey, this space will provide comfort and support for families when they need it most. We were honoured to have the Gower family, representatives from the Hospital Foundation, Mayor Dober, and Councillor McDonald in attendance for today's presentation.

Proceeds from our ATV Raffle will continue to support this important project. To purchase tickets, visit: https://dawsoncreekfirefighters.rafflenexus.com/

Together, we can help create a space that will support local families for years to come.

😁🚨Exciting News!!!🚨😁

We are proud to share that, behind the scenes working alongside with the Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation, we have been working on a special project to create a Firehouse Inspired Family Room to serve the community at the new Dawson Creek Hospital.

This project was inspired by Captain Gower and his family’s health journey, and by seeing firsthand the importance of having a quiet, comfortable space for patients and families during difficult times. Their experience highlighted just how vital it is to have a welcoming environment where loved ones can rest, reflect, and find support while navigating healthcare challenges.

Our goal is to create a space that provides comfort, privacy, and support for families when they need it most.

To help bring this vision to life, we are launching our Polaris Sportsman 570 ATV Raffle! Proceeds from ticket sales will go directly toward developing and furnishing the Firehouse Inspired Family Room, helping us make it as comfortable and supportive as possible.

Not only will you have a chance to win an incredible ATV, but you’ll also be helping make a meaningful difference for patients and families in our community.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased here:

Thank you for your continued support of Dawson Creek Firefighters Charity!

Today we congratulate Captain Mark Sutton on his retirement and thank him for his many years of dedicated service.

Mark joined as an Auxiliary Firefighter on June 7th 1999 and began his full-time career in July 2007 and has been a respected leader, mentor, and friend within the department ever since. His dedication and steady presence have left a lasting impact on all of us.

If you know Mark, you know his jokes were always part of the shift — whether they made you laugh or groan, they became part of the firehall and they’ll be missed just as much as he will.

Today we had the honour of “ringing Mark out,” a long-standing DCFD tradition recognizing a fire fighter’s final shift and years of service.

Congratulations, Mark, and thank you for everything. Wishing you all the best in retirement.
