We both had a great time opening our season at Tofield with the A.C.E. AutoX Club of Edmonton on July 4! Our fastest morning times you can see below and how despite having difficulty in very different parts of the track, it seemed to cancel out. Unfortunately there was only one more time for us before the CVT belt gave up in spectacular fashion on a relatively gentle run. That was going to be the end of our day but we were floored when club members approached to offered us rides to get some more driving in. Racing is hard on equipment and unforgiving of errors so we can't fully express how touched we both are that we were offered that trust. We should be up and running again for the next WCMA event at RMM with the SASC at the latest and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again!

If you wanted to compare the scale of a 2025 F1 car against our autocrosser, here you go. I was setting up some CFD validation tests against a public AirShaper case study and I couldn't resist.

We were up at Stratotech on the 22nd for StratoAttack 2 and had a great time! Life meant there was no time for changes to the car so it went as is. We focused this time on bringing the tires up to temp gently and driving with minimal slip and they really seemed to like it. In addition, the larger track made it very clear that the down force is working. Half of the lap was chanting "don't lift, don't lift, don't lift..." to myself and the grip was high enough that I didn't have the strength to lock the brakes anymore (one more project for the off season). In the end we managed a 53.4 so there's a bit of work to catch the Crowders yet! The engine was largely fine for one driver, and completely uncooperative for the other, so let the troubleshooting begin!

Got around to some video editing so here's how our fastest run on the 10th at YYC looked. Still lots of learning and setup to do but it was a positive day with nothing breaking (except the weird engine hesitations you can hear). It was hard to quantify the impact of the new wings so we're reserving judgement. The car is still underweight (hence running in Open not A Mod) so using aero parts as our ballast seems like a good idea for now.

First day out with the new wings and tires and nothing broke so we're off to a good start. Got some set up adjustments to do and a nose cover to finish but my biggest question mark seems to be tire conditioning. We got pretty good heat in them but they still just grained up and didn't want to get tacky. I think I'll try bringing them up to temp slower at the next event and bring down the aggression to see if they like that better. If any of you guys have some experience on slicks I'd love some tips!

It's finally time to go racing again! The car has upgraded cooling, new tires, and I'm closing in on the aero. A few more days of welding up the new structures, and filling and painting the wings should be all that's needed. Either way I'll be at the next event, wings or no!

First new parts of the new year! I settled on an aero package (ClA -7.2, CdA 1.9, 42% front, E420 profiles, standard cfd massive pinch of salt applies) and 3d printed 11kg of PETG to push out my first wing cores. Lots of filling, sanding, and glassing to do and learn but you got to start somewhere. Also for the upcoming season is 3x the cooling and going from the medium lc3 compound to the soft lc0. If that proves to over heat maybe the r20 would be a better choice (FSAE guys will know better than me on this one). Lots of work but I'm pretty excited!

Got out to the last Fort Mac event (in the foreseeable future) and had a great time as always. A special thanks to Tom for jumping in, giving great feedback, and showing what kind of pace I wasn't extracting from the car lol. This run was my best, and last, of the day and now it's time to start the winter projects. I've got a much faster tire ready to go and an aero package to build. I'll post on that progress once I'm more confident in my CFD!

YYC Event 12 was pretty interesting with rain and standing water in the afternoon. I lost 9 seconds! Freezing slicks and hydroplaning are no joke! Still got some great data with the pedal and muffler improvements performing well.

Run #2 ended up as my best and as you can see that's not saying much. Some ergonomics improvements and some brain adjustments should help tidy things up!
