School mornings can be hectic - but the rush should never follow you onto the road.

A quick glance at your phone. An unfastened seatbelt. A rushed drop-off. A few extra kilometres per hour. Small choices can have life-changing consequences.

Slow down. Put the phone away. Buckle up. Use safe drop-off points. Give every child the chance to arrive safely.

The morning may be rushed. Your driving shouldn’t be.

One life lost is one life too many.

September is Road Safety Month, and our tropical climate can also make September a hazardous one with many flooded roads, hiding potholes, debris etc.

One thing you do not have to worry about is how your EV will perform on these wet roads.

The myth that is often perpetuated is that EVs are at great risk when in water because the vehicle is electrically charged, which feels like it should not mix with water, but the truth is that electricity only charges the battery which is completely sealed and totally immune to any water absorption.

The other main reason that EVs are totally safe in water is that they do not have a combustion engine, therefore do not need a tailpipe, which is often how water would enter a gas car should the water rise above the height of a tailpipe.

Of course there are other potential risks of driving any car in floodwater, but please be reassured it is not because your vehicle is electric, on the contrary, an EV will be less vulnerable than a gas car.

If you have any questions regarding EV safety and performance, please reach out to one of our Sales Team for more info. You can message them on WhatsApp on 827-1133.
