How do you say "wirtschaftlicher Totalschaden" in English? Total write-off?
I have to decide whether (a) repair and sell; (b) not repair and sell as is; (c) repair and keep.
So I am back to the basics: what am I going to do, where and how to live? Only if I go for a lasting stay in Chile, I need the car. If I need the car, I want it to work with the original spare parts. But if I stay in Chile, I won't need this specific car, just one car that perhaps fulfills similar objectives. If I live abroad, I can't have this car, because importing it would be presumably prohibitively expensive and/or complicated, unless I stay away from countries of residence. But even that would be cumbersome and - in the end- quite expensive and useless. Or not?
Can someone help me with her or his wisdom?🤔

Back in the workshop as last weeks repair didn't survive 100km, under warranty, which is only worth something if the mechanic agrees to honoring it.
Daniel the mechanic said that a "bad chinese" spare part was the culprit.
I didn't point out that he had chosen the spare parts and used them.
He said that now these were better parts. I just hope they hold until arriving in Chile, where original parts are readily available.

The half-shaft fell apart. It had been badly fixed by Pablo, the crooked mechanic in Bahía Blanca.

News: just one day after a week of repairs, the gearbox doesn't work anymore, it is losing oil. 🤬
I am stuck again, but this time in a nice place. Tomorrow I'll see another mechanic, I hope for the best.

Henkelmann is not amused, some nightspots are just not that interesting.
On the other hand, he ages in dog years now, with 230000km already at a venerable age. The joints are cracking, there might a bit of coughing, soon to be at the doctor's again.
