10 years ago โ locals in northeast Thailand
found giant bones at the edge of a pond.
Scientists just confirmed what they had found.
The Nagatitan chaiyaphumensis.
The largest dinosaur ever discovered in Southeast Asia.
88 feet long. 27 tonnes. As long as a blue whale.
As heavy as 9 adult Asian elephants.
Its front leg bone alone was nearly 6 feet tall.
The lead researcher said:
"When I first saw the leg bone, it was taller than me.
That was quite surprising."
It lived 100 to 120 million years ago.
It ate plants. It had a long neck and a small head.
It had almost no predators at full size.
Scientists call it the Last Titan โ
because it may be the final giant sauropod
to have roamed Southeast Asia
before rising seas transformed the landscape
and ended their era.
Hidden under a pond.
For 120 million years.
Found by people just walking past.
๐ฆ Follow โ because the world still has things to discover.
