Just received a Corolla 110 for restoration from a dear colleague. This one carries serious emotional value, which is exactly why it’s being brought back instead of being sold off. It’s been sitting neglected for quite some time, but now the decision has been made — it deserves to return to its former glory.

Working on cars like these is never easy. Logically, it would make more sense to sell it as it is and add some extra cash for something newer. But when emotions are involved, logic takes a back seat.

Now comes the real question - how much will it actually take to bring it back properly?

Parts for these cars aren’t as easily available anymore. Body panels and trims aren’t being imported like before, and prices have gone through the roof. Spending 2-2.5 lac just on paint isn’t realistic. On the other hand, spending next to nothing and expecting showroom results is also unrealistic.

So the goal is balance — not overspending, but also not cutting corners. It has to look clean, solid, and presentable without going overboard.

This build will be all about smart sourcing, hunting down the right parts, and finding garages that won’t charge an arm and a leg.

Let’s see how far I can take it.
